Very nice knives. The only issue I see is the price of A new one compared to what they will sell for on the used market. They are starting to make a lot of models and supply seems to be catching up with the initial demand. With this I see the secondary prices dropping significantly and them not holding their value very well. also it seems as though the knives that hold value well are either very low production blades or your timeless designs like the Sebenza. WE knives are a bit extreme looking and your average everyday collector is going to grow tired of this and I could see the fun wearing off fast and people starting to sell them off on the used market. So for me I would like to own a couple however I think I will let things play out a while and see where they settle in at as they become available second hand. There are just so many choices out there for nice Titanium frame locks in the $100-$300 range and for me I just couldn't pay the upper end of that for a knife that I know I will get sick of after a while and have to try to sell.

Definitely not for you! I very rarely look at a knife immediately thinking of resale value however.

The Jade one is sweet. Bearings on both?

I'm quickly realizing I'm going to have to at least figure out how to get some kind of tax write-off out of this hobby....

Well I've owned at least 50 knives this year so far, none of which have been particularly inexpensive aside from a few lower end benchmade Griptilian and Spydercos, so resale is definetely something I consider when buying. Especially when it's a bright purple or green Titanium knife that looks like a mini samurai weapon. They definetely have an appeal to me though and I appreciate the work that goes into their knives. However I work in an office setting and wear business clothing during the week and business casual on weekends so I'm not out in the woods using a knife, ever. My knives get carried a bit, fondled a lot, and every now and again they get the opportunity to open a package or some mail. So use is not why I'm in this hobby, and to be quite honest if you're going to be beating on a knife everyday then there are better options than a titanium framelock that costs $300. In that case buy a paramilitary or an Emerson and be done with it.

Obviously now a days there are just as many, if not more, collectors/light EDC user here in the knife world than there are guys that are out beating on a knife at work everyday. And these knives would be more appealing to the collector I would think. So for those people resale is obviously going to come into play when they buy. Just look at the exchange here and tell me that resale shouldn't be a part of making a decision on a $300 knife. This place has one of the most active exchanges out of just about any forum out there with the exception of watch forums. If you're buying a $100 or less beater then yeah I wouldn't give resale a second thought. But if you're buying a titanium work of art, which these knives are, then as an educated collector/hobbyist you should take everything into consideration.

Good points. A few thoughts. WE has implemented MAP - dealers can't charge less than 15% of MSRP. If they can maintain higher prices longer on new products, that will help the secondary market. Also, they seem to be controlling the supply of products to keep from flooding the market. I'm not a huge fan of the models that are polarizing and bright (I too work in an office), but there are quite a few of good looking ones to choose from.

I had one of the first WE models they sold over here and it felt and performed like a much more expensive knife. Hand satin blade was gorgeous and smooth doesn't even begin to describe the action.

I love their logo. Very nicely designed.
The knives are just too thick for me, even though the design is again great overall.

That's a bit high brother!! Too high! I paid $175 or $200 off the Exchange couple months ago.

Question back to the group here. I haven't seen a whole lot of these for sale in the exchange. Most of these retail for $295. Whats a reasonable price for unused ones on the forum?

I got my 602a for $200.00 on the exchange.
I saw a 604 pop up last week on the exchange for $185.00 and I think it is still available.
Also there is a website (can't remember the name right now) that has some models for sale for about $225.00 BNIB
Hope this helps

I have four We's. From front to back: 601, 604, 605 and 606.
The 606 is definitely my favorite. Great fit and finish, awesome flipper and it works great as an EDC. If you're looking at a 606, I say go for it! Second would be a tie between the 601 and 604. They're both great knives but a little bigger than I like to carry for EDC.

I ordered the 605 thinking I'd love it, but I just can't seem to warm up to it. It's got kind of a gritty action and after reading about someone having trouble with a 605 and stripping the hardware trying to break it down, I've been hesitant to try and open it up. In hand...it feels a little awkward. I think the forward choil is just too big and the handle is too small. The detent is too strong to deploy by the hole making it strictly a flipper. I'm going to keep working with it to see if we can mesh. It's not a bad knife, just not working for me.

I've never sold a knife so resale value isn't a consideration for me. There's at least one online retailer who offers nice discounts. You can pick them up for $220-240 all the time with some models periodically on sale for $200. At those prices, WE's are one of the best bargains in the high-end production knife world. I put them at a little better than Kizer, probably even better than ZT and Spyderco, but falling short of Reate.
