Three Most Important Items in Your EDC

Why isn't there a facepalm emoticon... but seriously a valid point in day to day life. I do live in nowhere though so cell service can be very sparse at times. especially when im woods bumming often there is none.

Edit: also would help if I kept an active cell service plan.. just not much a fan of cell phones and only get a prepaid one when I do need one as I just don't use them that often. been without now for almost a year, Still use my Iphone as an ipod though... kinda silly I guess.

That probably came out as snarkier than I intended it, but yeah, I think many people underestimate how bloody useful modern cell phones are because they're often used as toys more than anything else.

Hands down, traditional knife, Fisher Space pen and my Maratac AAA flashlight (not pictured). Never had a clue how often I use all that stuff until I left it in my other pants one day and was left with only my GEC Bullnose on my belt.

It's difficult for me to say, I don't usually carry something if I don't use it. I'm gonna group things in three groups of most used to least used.

1:

Phone
Pen
Handkerchief
Knife
Key
Wallet

2:

Multitool/Leatherman
Keychain Light
Watch

3:

Lighter
Whistle
Pocket Light

Those groups may change by what I'm doing, etc.

Edit:
Forgot my watch

I grab my keys, which have an s-biner, flashlight, and SOG key knife, wallet and phone as bare minimum. From there, I'd add a folding or fixed knife depending on what I'll be doing, and if I need more than that, my woods pack.

My out-of-home EDC always consists of:

  1. Watch
  2. Wallet
  3. Knife
  4. Gerber Shortcut (mini-tool)
  5. Pill box
  6. Chapstick
  7. Phone
  8. Pen
  9. Handkerchief
  10. Keys (mini LED flashlight attached)

The top 3 of which would be my answer to the OP's question.

Sometimes I carry more than this, but these items are always on my person when I leave the house.

And paranoia..... Maybe a dash of fear?

No wallet? No keys? No phone?

:eek::D
Sorry, it had to do with the way I interpret the thread. I ascribe to these types of threads a sort-of "Aside from the Usuals That Every Man Carries Daily.." undertone. So, yes, the top-three slots would be wallet, keys, phone...THEN the hardware. :p

Why? I love the old cliche' about 'Not every problem is a nail, nor every solution a hammer'. Deadly-force is the LAST possible thing I want to have to resort to. But, I really loathe the idea of having to go 'hands-on', if I can avoid it. So many of today's miscreants are walking petri-dishes, for one thing. No matter your skill-set, size, or strength, there is always the potential for injury. It's the dis-figuring, or lingering injuries I worry about. Not mere scrapes or bruising. Thus, 'Horses for Courses'. ;)

Folding Blade
Fixed Blade
Multi Tool

What's up with the dependency on phones in this era? lol

Because I can't check my bank account, pay bills, navigate to a new location, answer almost any question I can think of asking, take pictures, stay in communication with whomever I wish, or get on the internet to chat about knives with my knife or multi-tool.

Hey, gotta do what ya gotta do.... Just sounded like tackleberry from the police academy movies!

I understand the desire to not get up close and personal too. Best case - you get covered in blood and nothing happens. Worst case - hep c, aids, Ebola, Samoan crotchrocket disease, who knows? Better to just blast em for sure.

Leatherman skeletool, galaxy s4 active (cell phone), and 4 sevens quark pro qp2l-x in that order.

Then of course I also have a Bic lighter, bandana, victorinox swiss champ, sharpie, rite in the rain notebook and my wallet with 2 square feet of heavy duty foil folded tightly in a card pocket (really came In handy a few times). That's what you'll find on me all day every day.

My knife, phone, and watch. If I leave one of those items at home, I feel so awkward until they return to my pocket or on my wrist.
