I can't remember whether I've posted this one here or not. I've given away my other Rough Ryder small stockmans but hung onto this one. (No imitation tortoises were harmed in the manufacture of this knife.)

Rough Ryder large blackwood lockback work knife. It's about the size of chevyrulez1 Imperial sodbuster, but this RR work knife probably cost me 2 or 3 times what I paid for a Chinese Imperial sodbuster.

This thrifty duo has handled all my mundane cutting tasks this week, outside of the kitchen, at least, and one or the other has been with me when I have ventured out from my home. I don’t think I have participated in choosing a KOTY here in the past, but this year the little blue Ideal seems to be on my person more than any other knife. We’ll see what the next 7 months bring…

I’m dropping these here for oldmanwilly . Sorry you had a bad experience with yours - I love mine, particularly the friction folders. Very sharp and slicey, and surprisingly robust considering the materials. These are the largest versions available. The olive wood handle shown here is my own creation.

No pictures but maybe you guys have one, I was looking at knives at a thrift store, they had some Frost two blade trappers in wood, but what surprised me was they had German blades and Solingen on them. I assume they had German 420 steel. Any thoughts? They were asking about 24.00, so I thought it s not a bad deal, but I passed.

I "think" the German Frost knives were contract knives by Jim Frost. I forget which cutlery company he contracted with.
From what I remember, they were decent knives. I believe the blade steel is 1.1441 KRUPP.
