Ti Framelock Military

There are whispers of a half CF, half titanium frame lock with a M4 blade. :D

That would be outstanding!!!

I've heard that too, and am very excited about it... maybe even moreso than about the all Ti RIL S30V Millie! But has there been any confirmation, or at least a little nod and grin from Sal regarding something like this?

And am I in the minority for preferring G10 to CF? I've never handled the smooth twill-like CF on the Sage, but the peel-ply CF on the BG-42 and S90V Millies don't really do it for me. It feels and sounds (when the blade snaps open and lock engages) more plastic-y than G10, and also feels bit lighter, not as solid. I'm sure it is strong enough; that's not the issue. It is merely a superficial, aesthetic, tactile issue for me.

I would love the Para in a frame lock or even a liner lock. The knife is too wide because the compression lock makes the blade stick out so much and it has that ugly tang sticking out. It really bothers me because when you're using the knife it feels so slim, secure, and light, but when you carry it it feels like a huge knife and takes up a lot of pocket space. The Military looks so more refined, just make a Military in the size of the Para.

Spyderco were well aware of the " ugly tang sticking out " and " taking up too much space in the pocket " but they used it anyway. My guess would be that when they tested the compression lock the results proved that it was superior compared to the lock used on the military. Why else would they chose it over a liner lock despite of its shortcomings. And why else would they go through all the time and expense to get it a patent and use it for one of their higher end knifes on its first ever introduction to their line up...
We should vote for innovative and pioneering new locking systems and I commend spyderco for trying even though many companies just play it safe and use the same old 1960`s locking system...

I prefer peel-ply CF to G-10. It's that lightweight perfection. :D

I think that both locks are aptly suited to the knives they are installed on. I can't say I'd like a liner lock para or compression lock military.

They probably would keep it as a Comp Lock like they did with the ATR and the Ti Salsa. It would be a frame comp lock.

Really?;)

Even the mighty Para could not reach this level of perfection.

+1 for that!! Very well put.

Nope, you're not the only one. I prefer G10 over CF. I won't buy any more CF knives.

I probably won't be buying this new Military either. Too much metal. Now, if it was G10 with a titanium frame-lock side.... oh yeah.

Got my pre order in and can't wait this is the one I have been waiting for the Millie Reeve Frankenstein

I'm just hoping and praying w/ all my might we get a Ti, CF and M4 millie. Wow. That would be so sweet. So far, I have missed all the special millies (BG-42 & CF, D2 & FG,
S90V & CF and whatever else there was) as I haven't been into knives very long, but if there is a Ti, CF & M4 millie I WILL get one, if its the last thing I do lol.

I have one of these on pre order as well. I'm really hoping for it to be out by december, but we'll see. On the spyderco forum Sal mentioned that they had a bunch in Golden, but were waiting for more pieces so they could ship out a higher initial volume.

To get an authoritative answer, you'll have to talk to Sal or Taz or someone from Spyderco. IIRC, it may not be until early 2010 but I may be misremembering what I've read on this.

Thanks, was hoping one of them might respond to this thread. Last report from Sal I saw (end of Oct) was that they had some ready but were waiting for more before shipping.

I preordered mine the end of Sept. Figured it would be a pretty good wait.
