Ti JYD II SG2

My retirement check is stretched about as far as the laws of physics allows. Too bad. It looks like one I could use without cutting myself. Thomas , if you ever need a disabled guys opinion on your products send it over here for testing. I volunteer!:D

Beautiful work as usual Thomas. Another winning team effort. Joe

I'm curious about the grind ... was there a particular reason, SG-2/laminate perhaps, that dictated changing from the high flat grind of the regular model?
Well when we flat ground the SG2, you couldn't see the laminate. So we had to hollow grind it to fully expose the 2 steels. I will say it is nice and thin with the hollow grind, but not quite as sexy.
I think they both look good, though might like to see the hollow grind run up a little higher, closer to the spine.

The "rivet pattern" on the Ti handle looks especially nice, BTW.

Thought I would throw one more JYD II out there, this one was a collab. with Lee.

A picture like this with original JYD II, to estimate handle thickness and framelock, please.

Here you go. Engagement is bit off due to this piece being a pretty rough proto, but you get the idea. I believe the lock measures in at .130 vs. the .070 liner lock.

WOW!! I can't wait! I like a frame lock better then a liner lock. That just looks great!!

Thomas (or anyone else who knows) what can you tell me about the SG2 steel? How much of an upgrade is it over the Sandvik 13C26? Edge retention, hardness, etc...

Sanjuro, the SG2 steel is a super premium japanese powder metalurgy blade steel, stainless not carbon steel. It is in the catagory of SPGS, Cowery Y, ZDP189, and the other best of the best.

It has been used successfully in the Shun line, plus, in the SG2 Blur ( one of the best knives for the money ever made by any company)

Expect great wear resistance, excellent edge stability, and expect it to sharpen pretty easily considering how wear resistant it is. Some very clever metallurgists spent some time on this one.

As with any ( especially hard, high RC) knives don't pry, laterally strain the edge while cutting, or use as a screwdriver. Think twice before cutting metal wire. Some do, I don't. I always try to use the correct tool for the job.

Keep in mind what Kai/Kershaw is really putting out here. Don't pass it up!

Thomas, Another knife torturing me, calling to me. Medicine or knife! BAH! I need the knife more don't I? Joe L.

Thanks for that Mastiff! Much apprciated! With a MSRP of $240 what can we expect to pay for this knife?

I'm trying to decided if I want to buy this knife or go with the Mini-Cyclone Ti ZDP189.

Not bad! I will have a hard choice on my hands between the JYDII SG2 or the Mini-Cyclone Ti ZDP-189.

Holy!!!!!!!! .130! That for you "tactical" lovers is thicker than a Strider frame lock!

I always saw big things possible for that JYDII knife and have said since first wrapping my hand on it that its the best folder Kershaw ever made and one that could fit into several venues in the hands of end line users. I see now that I hit the nail on the head there! That Ti JYDII is going to be a high demand folder I think. I know I want one or two for myself, especially in that blade steel too. Thats a fine steel folks. I liked it better than ZDP189 personally for better corrosion resistance and it seemed to sharpen back up far easier.
