You should have seen the meeting we had with Tim trying to convince him to put the thumb stud on the Lahar!
Yea it's funny, you hear it on both sides in situations like these. Everyone has a preference, and the production combo you finally sign off on doesn't always satisfy everyone.I've been just thinking about removing the studs from my Lahar, they are redundant for me there.
How about a Cyclone (both full-size & the "Mini") that is drilled and tapped for both tip up and tip down (as they are now), as well as for both right-hand, AND left-hand carry?...In other words, have 4 sets of drilled & tapped holes rather than just the current 2 sets of holes....If we could only come up with a knife that had everything for everybody...think it would sell then?...
Here you go. Engagement is bit off due to this piece being a pretty rough proto, but you get the idea. I believe the lock measures in at .130 vs. the .070 liner lock.
If I had any $ to pay for it to be done, and to pay for the shipping, I probably would, but for now it works out ok as I carry my full-sized Cyclone in a horizontal sheath on my "strong-side", and my Mini-Cyclone weak-side in my right front pocket.Hey Glockman,
If you can bear to part with your Cyclone for a little while I'll bet that STR would be willing to hook you up.
Haven't measured it but I would guess around .045 or so.Thomas, how thick is the material left in the relief cut?

logican,
A .045" thickness of the lock relief is more than sufficient for this application. Could it be thicker???? Sure, but there are some compromises that must be made in a production setting. The thicker the lock relief, the more we will fight sticky locks and poor flipping action.
I would hesitate to call the JYDII "Tank Like" I would say the JYDII is more of an "SUV"
The Ti handles make the knife very light, and the knife is much thinner overall than the G-10 scaled liner lock counterpart. I think the ZT 0301 would fit the "Tank Like" bill.
Tim, thanks for the very straightforward response. I now understand the reasoning behind it.
Where are you guys pre-ordering? Can't find it listed anywhere yet.
