Time for a new gun

Wow! That's crazy! I thought I had it tough with my hands aging. Glad it's improved for you. The Beretta is a great choice for all the reasons you give.
I'm pretty much done with all my gear buying days, I do believe. I have more than enough stuff. Doing my best to be satisfied with what I have right now. But wouldn't you know, they're recently reviving the hi-power and the Springfield and FN versions look very tempting! I'm also a fan of heavy, soft shooting nines!
Looks like Hi-Power will be the flavor of the year, Springfield, Girsan, and now FN. I really hope that Springfield will release more variations (better equipped) SA35, with checkering, adjustable/target sights, stainless steel. I know it is a long shot (pun intended), maybe all these Hi-Power reissues will push Smith and Wesson to release an updated versions of their 3rd gen. semi-auto pistols 5906, 6906, 3913. One can dream.

Meh, I never like those Smith auto's. Maybe I'm biased from U.S. Marshal's and TLJ saying "ditch the nickel plated sissy pistol and get yourself a Glock." Then again, I don't like Glock's either.

The only bad thing about the '92 is the size. Otherwise, it was utterly reliable at a time when there was no such thing for semi-auto handguns.

I love my Glock 21 Gen3 and wouldn't carry anything else. I shot my brother-in-law's Beretta one time and couldn't wait to get my Glock back in my hands.

Same here. There is a place for S&W in our house though.

I have two older S&W Revolvers, a 1968 Model 10 5" and a late 50's Model 36 1 7/8" barrels, both in .38. Fantastic triggers.

My cousin is an FBI agent, and has carried a Glock 23? in .40 for years. Every time I shot it, I disliked it.

Bad news upon bad news. I found out that the M9A4 is so new its nearly impossible to get RDO plates for it, plus the mounting is not ideal. So, I'm looking at other options. I also just found out I need $3k in dental work, so price is going to be a little bit of a factor now. I'm looking at a Canik TP9 Combat Elite Executive with the Salient barrel and trigger, with Vortex viper red dot. $850 is easier to swallow right now.

What is it that you didn't like about the G23? I had a G23 Gen2 once, but I do enjoy shooting my .45acp G21 Gen3 much better than the G23. I'm not sure if FBI agents are allowed to modify their service weapons or not. I have an older model White Lightning trigger in my G21.

Part of it was accuracy, part was that like my XD, it bloodied my trigger finger. I have medium-large hands, with short, very thick fingers. Glocks, XD's, and a few other polymer pistols have a seam in the guard that the side of my finger rubs against, and would get bloody. Never had that problem on any other gun I've shot--HK USP, Sig P365, Steyr M9, Beretta PX4, Walther P99/PPQ. Now, its been probably 6 or 7 years since I shot a Glock, but the recoil difference between it and my Beretta was significant enough to turn me off as well.

This latest gun I'm now trying to keep under $1k with the aforementioned dental work. On my list:

Walther PPQ Q5 Match and Q4 Tactical
Canik TP9 Combat Elite Executive and the SFX
CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical

First time that I've ever heard of that. I guess he needs to cut/sand that seam down. The recoil was just the opposite to me. It takes a while to get used to the Glock trigger. I'm very accurate with mine and I have it sighted in at 40 yards. I don't like fussing with manual safeties and decockers.

I thought that quote was aimed at a Taurus. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to the movie.

Hi-Power has a cult following, and I've read that it fixed the problems with the 1911 design, but I haven't found out what those problems are. I've handled a HP and it seemed a bit weird to me. I wondered if the HP was better, why didn't someone add the improvements of the HP to the 1911, or at least bring out a HP in .45ACP.

I’ve heard that many times and I agree with you I still don’t know what these problems are. Love 1911s!

Maybe capacity?
