Time for a new gun

You definitely have your hands full. Sorry about your dad.
I remember owning Ruger MK3, disassembly/assembly is such PITA, though it is a very nice gun to shoot. I replaced a sear, extractor (after it broke), and slide stop after it also broke, all parts by Volquartsen. My MK3 had some rough edges literally and figuratively, got various grit sandpaper and spent about an hour went over the whole gun, frame, upper, and bolt. Put it on a steady diet of match ammo and never had any issues.

Well, I only feed mine CCI, it chokes on everything else.

Update on everything:

Its all put together, been to the range. I didn't like how the flush mounted magazines fit in, so I put a +2 extension on my 12 rounders for the Sig (I call my P365 Sigmund.)

That is very good looking gun! I like Wilson grip module!
The mods, especially the grip and trigger, have made it a totally different gun. Shoots flatter, and I'm more accurate.

Nice!!! Looks good, shoots well! Good job!!! I might hit the range tomorrow, there is some snow in forecast, hopefully nothing serious.

Hey K.O.D.
How do you like Beretta PX4? This gun was on my list for quite some time, I really like PX4 Compact Carry. However I haven’t had a chance to actually shoot one. The grip texture looks smooth to me and I was wondering how it is working for you, especially with .40 caliber.

Well, I liked it, but I've made a lot of changes and now love it. Its naturally a soft shooter in .40 with the rotating barrel.

I've added the drop in Beretta competition trigger group (lessens takeup and weight of both da and sa, shortens reset), competition cam block (makes it cycle faster) and a metal guide rod. I've also replaced the standard safety/decocker with the low profile decocker only.

Its extremely accurate. I'm a good shot, but I shoot this even better than my 9mm Steyr M9-A1. Most of the mods were very easy, only the safety did I need help with.

I'm also a fan of the PX4 and PX4 Compact. (The subcompact is a different animal entirely.) It's a good gun and becomes a great gun with these mods. The only mod that I count as absolutely necessary is the low-profile levers. It really streamlines the gun. I also prefer not having a manual safety on anything I'm inclined to carry. Safety is inherent in the DA/SA and adding a superfluous safety step also adds a stumbling block for defensive encounters.

Coincidentally, I think the PX4 was designed for .40 S&W from the ground up, unlike many other guns that were originally designed for 9mm and converted for .40 S&W and/or .357 Sig. It might be the softest shooting polymer-framed handgun in .40 S&W.

I have on the way from Langdon Tactical their trigger bar and a 10# hammer spring.

The recoil is like shooting a very hot 9mm. The rotating barrel greatly reduces the muzzle flip .40 is known for. I bought it to replace a Springfield XD40 I want to say 11 or 12 years ago. The XD gave a bloody trigger finger after 2-3 mags.

I'll take some pics tomorrow of my Beretta. I think I may get a light/laser combo for it.

I really like PX4 but haven’t had a chance to shoot one. My buddy has a full-size PX4 yet his odd work schedule makes it difficult for him to visit the shooting range, I tried bribing him with ammo and it did not work:)
I handled PX4 Compact Carry in a local store and it is a very nice gun!!! From the factory it comes with several upgrades including competition trigger, G-model decocker only, low profile decocker and slide release (stealth) levers, plus contrast night sights with orange front and all black rear. 3 magazines and set of Talon grips. Hence the price $799. I want to try HK P2000 with LEM trigger and see how it stacks up against PX4. So my time for a new gun is slowly approaching!

I prefer the PX4 Compact and the "Compact Carry" upgrades are totally worth it.

The P2000 is decent in 9mm. I like the PX4 Compact better and with the upgrade package, it's a slam dunk. (I also prefer DA/SA to their LEM.)

My Langdon Tactical trigger bar and hammer spring are out for delivery!

LT trigger bar doesn't work correctly ugh. Rubs badly on the frame, it's to thick. Rubs so bad it doesn't reset. Oh well. I emailed LT we will see what they say.

Chronovore Chronovore

Update. What felt like frame rubbing was actually a slightly bent spring rubbing. I removed the trigger group, straightened the spring, reinstalled everything, and wow. Impressive.

I had emailed Langdon, and they were very responsive. After several emails, including sending them pics, they figured it out and replied at the same time I did.
