Let's share the joy of knives. :)

So, what did you use yours for today?
I used the Spyderco Police (full serrated), Benchmade Vicar, and ZT 0392PURBLKWC to cut cardboard, cut wrapping paper, cut tape, and cut some paracord, all as part of wrapping my wife's Christmas present.
I used whichever knife was laying around in whichever room I happened to be in at the time.
Had to construct a box around the box around the box with the present in it, so she'll have no clue what's inside. :D
The inner box has a pretty bow made of paracord.

Plus, I used an entire roll of packing tape, ensuring that she will have to use a knife to get into it.

So share your knife-joy stories here.
Holiday themed uses win extra internet points. ;)

I haven't needed a pocket knife today. I used a kitchen knife to cut off a slice of pumpkin nut bread for breakfast, if that counts.

I could have sworn we had a "what have you used your knife for recently" thread just in the past few days.

I used a Sebenza CF Insingo all day, including wrapping some last minute gifts. I did cheat on the Sebenza while I was whittling for an hour, during which I used mostly a Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite.

Close enough. :D
Pumpkin bread sounds holiday themed.

Are there any other kind of gifts? ;)

I cut some peanut butter fudge into squares at work and opened up a pack of water for the office. Pretty sure that was it so far.

Vic recruit - opened a package of Swiss Miss, cut a piece of string, tightened a loose screw, and used the can opener to pull a couple of staples.

Last night, I used a gyuto to split a croissant to make a sandwich. I also used a smaller utility knife to cut up some cheese to go on crackers, which I nibbled on while sipping a glass of bourbon.

Night before that, I used a ZT 0566 to cut open the shipping carton that a new kitchen table came in, and to break down the cardboard box so I could take it outside. I also used a Vic Farmer in that process to pry out some of the staples holding the box closed.

But you did mention "today" so I was somewhat constrained in my answer. I could go cut up some paper for you right now if you'd like. Any preferences in which knife I use?

Seems all of my knife usage recently has been kitchen themed.

I used my ZT0999 to cut open a box that arrived via USPS - which contained a gun case.

I also cleaned and lubricated my Vic Waiter - it was sticky due to apple juice from cutting my apples at work each day.

best

I think it should be the most expensive knife. :)
Or the one you've had the longest.
Either one should make a nice choice.

I used a (new to me) GB1 to break down boxes, cut some plastics, pallet wrap and banding straps (at work), and will be using it while wrapping some gifts shortly.
The misses will be using her pink Spyderco Ladybug to aid in wrapping said gifts.

Let's be honest, the Misses I'll do the bulk of the wrapping, and I will have a beer or two while she re-wraps all the ones I tried to do.

Cut open a few bundles of firewood
Wife sliced her toe open on a staple,, had to cut the gauze I wrapped her foot up with.
Both with Benchmade 950

I used my Ontario Rat 1 to cut open one of those awful, evil blister packs. I think they should be outlawed. Not the Rat 1 but the blister packs should be outlawed. Just clarification. LOL Just saying.

I finally picked up one of my grail knives. I quit smoking (the green AND the brown) to save up for a really special knife, the BRS alpha beast and finally scrounged up enough pennies to get it. Been using it the last two weeks as a work blade, and for damn near everything but shaving! :D (can someone put a straight razor type edge on this sucker?!)

Good idea for a thread stabman, have a merry Christmas.

Get a hawkbill.
Spyderco matriarch, GEC Farmer Jack, Victorinox with a Pruner blade, anything like those and you will soon have a "Go to" blister pack knife.

Ston, congrats on the milestone(s)!
If you want it touched up and thinned a bit, shoot that thing out to Josh at REK.

I have this small herd of deer that hang out up here on the hill with us. I made the mistake of cutting up an apple and tossing it out to them one day.

I pull in today, and as soon as they see the door open on the rig, they amble over into the yard next to the garage.

So I grab a couple apples from the back porch (Which I have purchased for this purpose) and give the ol' HK Mini Axis a short outing.

At least they stop eating the maple trees for a spell.

This morning i used the saw on my Victorinox Fieldmaster to cut myself a walking stick because the hiking trails were slick and muddy. Later on i used my custom shop 110 to slice up some venision summer sausage for lunch.

I used my Bradford Guardian3 fixed in 3V to cut up some steak bits for my puppy. Also opened a package which contained some stuff for knife-sharpening. Pretty good day.

Used a Kershaw CQC-9K to open mail, cut wrapping paper, open boxes, open packages, including clamshell packaging. Don't always use my knife this much in one day, but 'tis the season!

I really like the idea of POSITIVE posts! M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S everybody!
