Time for the 2011 Blade Show Pics (Including Blade Booty)

I'm glad you picked up that Erickson trapper. I loved the micarta. He had a couple blocks of it in his room.

Here are some knives I was lucky enough to pick-up..

Erickson single blade shadow Trapper...

Menefee shadow Pruner..

Menefee Bent Gunstock jack

Menefee Swayback Jack...

Bret Dowell Trapper with semi-skinner

Great knives... lucky to have them all!

Jason

Jason, way to go brother! It sounds like one heck of a good time. Gives me something to look forward to next year.

Great knives too!!

Jason......

Ooouchh..those sure are a bunch of sweet looking knives you found for yourself... and what a mother loving crew you're hanging with......

Jason, Elliot, Gus, Ken, Steven, Vince, Ed, Sheila, Fester...I just have to get there one day, it would be such a fantastic pleasure to met the people who I think quite highly of, and to sit and have a drink, knife talk etc...just great...just great.
Guys...thank you for this great place, and for opening our eyes to this gathering.

I swore I'd never fly again, but I may just have to break that vow, and get myself there next year. Too great an event to miss, from what I've seen in this thread. Maybe bring my son too, if there's not a Troop campout at the same time.

~Chris

ps - Elliott: hope all is well with your dog. Kind of like having a sick child, I'm sure.

Congrats brother, fantastic news! I have no idea what a BPT is but I sure as hell know who Tony Bose is! :D

Ok I am going to tag my "Traditional" pics onto this thread..........

This is a Blade Show I will never forget! I won a Tony Bose BPT!
Now those who know me know I am a BPT fool. I won the knife I wanted! Unbelievable!
It was a fantastic weekend with fantastic people and memories.

My thanks to all of you..........

Richard Rogers, "Blues", Jerry Halfrich, Campbell

Hump, the BPT is the backpocket model, like a large single clip blade trapper frame, but very thin side to side.

It sure was great to meet a lot of new people. Gus, JohnnyMac, Jason Baker, Bret Dowell, Dan Burke, Ken Erickson, and many others.

Steve (Alfaholic) I missed meeting you there, although we were in Tony's room at the same time. It wasn't until after you won the BPT that someone told me who you were! Next time I will introduce myself.

Hi guys,

It was great to see all our friends and meet some new ones. Had a lot of fun and got to talk knives for a few days. We always look forward to seeing Gus and Blues. I just love their enthusiasm.

I didn't get around and see as many people as I wanted to. The show is getting so big, it's hard to see everything. I was looking forward to meeting Ken Erickson and seeing his knives. They didn't disappoint. He does an outstanding job of getting the right look and feel in his pieces. They just look right. Hopefully he can stop by for a visit if he ever makes it out here.

If you are interested in one of Enrique Pena's knives, I'd order one now. His stuff is really looking good, and the demand reflects that. I think he sold out almost immediately.

Joel Chamblin had some gorgeous knives on his table. He's one of the best out there, but he's so quiet and unassuming people forget about him. He had a 4-blade with carved pearl that I really liked. I've encouraged him to post here, so if you see him, say hi.

I'm still about 1/2 brain dead from the show (Sally would say I'm usually brain dead), so forgive me if I didn't mention you by name.

Take care,

Richard

Booty shots.

This knife by Ken is something else. Thanks Ken. You pulled this one off incredibly.

Gus this knife absolutely beautiful. I had a good opportunity to examine it very closely and it is a fantastic piece.

What really amazes me about Ken Erickson is how he is able to incorporate both locking and slip joints together in such a well thought out way. Both locks on this knife function PERFECTLY and all mechanical aspects of the knife, such as blade centre, are flawless.

The stag and overall look of the knife look to vintage and perfect. Ken has aged or finished the stag in such a way that it really has a classic old world look. All that with super modern steels. You just cannot go wrong!

I wish you well to own it:) (The Pena Cattle Knife is also BRILLIANT!:D)

Richard, I have to agree with your assessment and appreciate the good words you expressed for Gus and me. Visiting with you and Sally is always one of the very first priorities.
I hope you'll have the opportunity to spend more time with us here during the coming year and share some of the projects you are working on. (I know one you might enjoy doing...;))

The Pena Cattle Knife is also BRILLIANT!:D

When Steven (Alfaholic) and I were walking the show and taking in the various knives by our favorite makers, it really seemed quite a bit like a Guinness advert:

Many congratulations to all those who were fortunate enough to attend the BLADE show this year, and even more props to those who dealt out the $$ for some beautiful "booty" as Campbell put it. Besides the ones already discussed, I was blessed to see a wonderful two-blade sowbelly in the most amazing black lip pearl I've ever seen, made by T.R. Overeynder of Arlington, Texas. Anyone else fortunate enough to see this one, sound off--it was truly breathtaking!

It was really great to see so many forumites over the weekend. Also, an extra grateful thanks to Kerry for a very enlightening discussion of the merits and shortcomings of some of my production knives which I brought, and to Tony and Reese for putting up with all of us invading their space on Thursday night.

On to the Goodies! First up is a beautiful hunter in stag and blued damascus by Karl Andersen, JS. The knife was assembled just like one of Karl's well known takedown knives, but then he epoxied it all up to make it extra solid. You have to handle this one to truly appreciate it.

Another fixed blade I came home with was made by Dave Lisch, JS. This stag skinner has a forged W2 blade with hamon and a wrought iron half guard. The finger sized choil forward of the guard allows for my favorite "choke up" grip, and this baby will definitely taste blood this coming fall!

Lastly was a gorgeous GEC half congress in elk stag. Several people who saw it thought it was ancient mammoth ivory--it really has that wonderful weathered look! It has not left my pocket since I received it. Ryan Daniels of GEC was very helpful to me in a customer service matter as well. Thanks again, Ryan!

I know my first guess was mammoth ivory when I held it. I never would have guessed it was smooth elk stag.

I'll add as time affords me,I have a lot of catching up to do here

Menefee delivered Vince a stag 4" trapper. This is going to be his standard 4" blade profile.I think a shadow has been posted in Rick's thread ,but here's one in stag....
