if any of you old coots know what a Stanley Bailey 6C, 7C, and 8C is...

you can laugh or cry with me now :D

both are probably appropriate

I have a 7C (C=corrugated for the uninitiated) but the throat's cracked so it's collecting dust....which is too bad because it's a huge-assed beast of a jointing plane. "Too much universe, too little time." - T. Pratchett. It will likely be another decade before I get to all the hand tools that need refurb and TLC., and maybe more, at that....

The 7C is the one on the left.

Ooh, the ZT I've been lusting over just popped up on the exchange. Eyecandy.. :D Good thing waiting and saving builds character. :D

Why would we want to do anything that those....erm, other people....do? Besides, I think trailbum's the only one who can limit himself to three words. Actually, he mostly does two....

Because I've done it a few times on other websites and it's pretty fun for something that those ... other people... do. :D Just an idea, the thread would probably die quick anyways.

You do have the ability to start threads, you know....so go ahead and exercise that power if you so desire. See what happens.

Pi Day is every year. 3.1415 Day only happens every century.

Well,
Technically it's 3.14.2015...

But if you drop the leading thousands and hundreds... then yeah, every hundred years.

The real PI day was 3.14.1592

Can you imagine how hard they geeked out back in 1592 at 6:53 and 59 seconds? Or how hard they'll geek out 13,911 years from now?

Heh... Yes.... Beat me too it. I should have read further before posting.

Way to go Hoss

not too shabby...

i have no shoulder or rabbet planes as yet... nor working small planes, esp palm and finish or corner or shavers or spokers... but i see YOU do ;D

i'm eyeballing some stuff. definitely the eyeballing :D

i have a sargent plane that is similar to what a Stanley #5 is. pretty good shape. $15. i'm going to have to drop the boom for a few of the odd ones, but it will be worth it

two #4s, one Stanley, one clearly made by Stanley for Craftsman...

and a narrower one. might be some kind of 3, it's not as nice, "contractor grade", no name or label, but dark blue paint remains. has strong nods to suggest Stanley, but the stamped frog probably clinches it as an OEM for some store chain.

Back then they probably had no idea either... Hell they were probably just happy to figure out cows had milk in their teats.

No... The knowledge of Pi was around long before 1592. Now, most people then probably had no clue about it.. But the math and science world certainly did.

Refurbed a Bailey No. 3 for my brother (who is Bailey #3, LOL) for Christmas - probably 15 years ago, I'd guess. Cleaned it up, flattened the sole, made a new tote out of some (actual) mahogany, fitted and polished the chip breaker and sharpened the blade to hair splitting.....not done anything like that for myself, tho. The Bailey No. 5 is my favorite (and most used) followed by the #53 spokeshave and a No. 4 that's been converted to a cabinet scraper with a Veritas insert. No, wait....most used is my Stanley low angle block plane and this little Strong-Boy palm plane:

That's where milk comes from????

Freaky.

True. People drink breast milk....meant for baby cows.

That's what I tell people when they question me about my daughter's (anaphylaxis) milk allergy. Them: "you mean she can't drink milk?!" Me: "you mean to tell me you drink breast milk?......for baby cows?" Usually shuts 'em right up.

Good night, snarkers. Time to get a few hours of restful slumber.
