The EO Jack is by far my first choice. The others are mostly okay, although I think I would pass on the Toenail/Sunfish. I've just never cared for that pattern. ;)

I'll add my .02 to this and agree that the tang stamp (instead of a blade etch) is FAR preferred by me.

Yup, me too. The blade etch is the one thing I don't like about my 2010 AAPK trapper. The absence of blade etch is one thing I like a great deal about my new Barlow.

Any traditional I buy with blade etch I hand rub the blade down till its gone before using it...its one thing I hate on queens amber bone line.

Same here, for now... but because I don't have one, and have never carried that pattern, thats one of the reasons I'll be pulling HARD for a Toenail/Sunfish next year!! Variety IS the spice of life.

whoa whoa whoa! -how could this have happened?? i thought it was an easy choice :D
i know the easy open is popular at the moment but has everybody handled a toenail? i'd guess you can't have a more satisfying, big old chunky handful of pocketknife...

let's go, toenail!!
;)

If next years is anything like the above knives I'm in for a toenail...but the EO is definately for me this year, that big bellied blade just screams EDC user!

I voted EO jack, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that a lot of other folks chose that too. :)

For me, toenail is a DEFINITE for next year. For this year, I like the EO.

lets not slip too far ahead of ourself in this thread, we still have all the details of the 2011 to work out :D

:DOk, Ok. But lets move on! I'm chompin' at the bit here. The pattern will be the EO with that big fat main blade! Lets get to the poll for the secondary blade, on to the poll about scale materials (anything but black), then lets get this puppy built, shipped, and into my anxiously waiting, grubby little hands!!!!:D:D

(Can you tell that I'm REALLY excited about getting one of these?:D:D)

I know what you mean about being excited, as I was last year for my first traditional forum knife. It's easy to get carried away, but you have to pace yourself a little bit.:D It may be close to the end of the year or later before we get the knives depending on which manufacturer we pick and when they can get to it. For me a big part of the fun is seeing what everybody else wants and just being part of the decision process.

I know it's hard to do, but I've just tried to take the approach that it'll get here when it gets here and focus on other knives that I want. It's actually kind of cool to get a knife and have it already been paid for so far in advance. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to do it all the time, but it's nice to not have to figure out whether or not I have the extra money to buy it. This is especially true if it ends up coming around the holidays.

I joke...I kid...:D I just wanted to see what it felt like to be unreasonable, get all wound up and bent out of shape because I REALLY want a specific knife that hasn't been delivered to me yet. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink):D

When it comes to this process, patience is a key component along with the folks who stepped up to the plate to organize this along with the gang participating.

First the guys are going to have to check out what an E.O. with one blade is going to run ballpark wise. ;). Then they can get some idea of handle material cost and an extra blade if that works out.

Our stamp is too cool and we can ditch the other markings. Thank you Charlie and gang for that legacy!

Edited to add.
You guys have won me over; that EO is going to be too cool. :D.

Gotta bunch of sunfish anyway. ;)

Patience is the key on all sides, members can get annoyingly repetitive in their good humored attempts at levity while waitin' for their knife/knives.

The members who take on this project sometimes find themselves at the mercy of the chosen manufacturer and the members who are waitin', kinda like between a rock and a hard place and after feelin' the squeeze can get a little testy at the comments made by everyone or just one. :)

Just remember guys as a veteran of the Traditional Forums Knife Experience, the waitin' is the hardest part and the members who took on this project also have lives outside the forum so when doo-doo happens don't take it out on the ones who are doin' this great service for us, 'cause if we do, it might get harder and harder to find some generous members to volunteer to take on this task again.

Sit back and enjoy the Democratic process that has brought us 5 beautiful Forum Knives so far.

BTW, rbmcmjr thanks for pickin' one of my pics as an example of the 2009 forum knife. :)

This can't be said often enough. Thanks gentlemen.
The first thing SWMBO commented on was how classy the stamp looked. We all know that she has fantastic taste so that is saying something.:D
Of course then she noticed the scales and has been shopping for ebony flooring....

I'm sure this year's will be equally impressive with the group we have handling things.

I know I said it would run til the 6th. but it seems to have played out with the choice being the EO Jack. We are eager to progress. So, we will move on to the next phase. We will keep you guys and gals posted as to the next phase. We will be contacting manufacturers next. Thanks all, you are making this alot of fun. This is thread and poll is now closed.

Take care and Campbell, Andy and myself will be back soon.
