Along with the Spear Blade the EO has to have ONE of the following to make it work.

Punch blade
Screwdriver/caplifter blade
Bail

If it doesn't have ONE of those three, it's a deal breaker for me.

A Pen Blade as the secondary blade just won't hack it.

My .02¢

I think there is a variation of a clip secondary. I think it's too bad about the bail too, but it won't stop me from getting one...if it's in ebony.
If BF had a whole series of ebony and did a countdown with the dots I think it would be cool. Like a set.

Guys, as Chris said in the original post, you are free to voice your thoughts on the knife details, but they don't have any bearing on this thread. Decisions on details come later and we can't make everybody happen. It's majority rule. Ed, I'm sorry if you feel that way and I hope you will get a knife, but nobody can tell you what the end result will be and I don't know how your post helps us get there. The process is this...a pattern is chosen. We then go to various makers and discuss that pattern and various options for that pattern. We have a max price that we have to adhere to. As an example, if a manufacturer can do 1 blade combination for under the capped price and do a 2nd blade combination for over the capped price, then we are not going with the 2nd blade combination from that manufacturer. Regardless, I ask that you keep your posts positive as this should be a fun experience for all involved.

Poll counts at 194! I think it will be great if we can top 200 knives this year!

And if some buy more then 1 (which happens as per normal) which ever company takes this one on will be kept busy! :D

Yup!

We know some people who vote may not purchase due to unfortunate monetary circumstances, but hopefully the poll will hover closely, and the multiple purchasers will buffer the deficit and keep it close. Just hopeful speculation.

I was leaning towards a small wharncliffe but trust whatever the majority decides will make an excellent knife. A punch or caplifter/screwdriver would probably end up being more useful than a wharncliffe anyways.

I've been carrying a wharncliffe the last week and love it. Whatever the 2nd blade is, I'll take 2. :)

I am disappointed to hear about the bail too... I was really hoping for one on the EO pattern. Depending on handle material etc., I will still get one.

I agree that a series of ebony would be awesome.

I'm really hoping we go with winterbottom for this one...I like ebony, but I like a well done jigged bone more.

Voted for the EO as I am not much of a trapper fan. The HJ would be my 2nd choice. I too like the idea of ebony wood for the handle. Thanks.

Give yourself some of the credit for that impressive number. The great job you all did on the 2010 knife caught the attention of more than one new guy like myself. Now there is no way I'm missing this one. Might have to grab more than one.:cool:

Ditto... same here... I missed last years BEAUTY and that ain't gonna' happen again!

Likewise.

I won't be slackin' on this one!

Just stumbled upon this thread and I'm thinking I want to get in on this.......

........if it is going to be a $500 custom, I'm most likely out......a $100 production, I'll most likely be in......

.....does anybody have a picture of last years knife?.....how much did it cost??
