Gary, can u email me directions from 83 south? Hope to see you there on sunday!

Well, I'm back. i could only spend an hour there, but I loved it! Mr. Tomes was kind enough to give me some very helpful advice, which I will definetly follow, I met the Jones brothers, great guys, G2, Chefget, Mr. Anderson and several other people. I didn't see Para or some of the other guys. The show was incredible, first show I have been to. i spent about 15 minutes at kovals table looking for materials. I can't wait to go to more shows!!!!

Well? Any news guys? How is/was the show?</font>
Beginner's eyewitness report:

Hard to say, this was my first pure knife show (as opposed to many gun & knife shows).
It was very, very crowded. A few guys in wheelchairs needed full cooperation from the crowd in order to move on from one display to the next. I'm sorry I wore a daypack. And some little knee-high kids were surrounded in a sea of adult legs. But enough about the narrow aisles.
Some of the famous name designers present included Alan Elishewicz, Jot Singh Khalsa, Pat Crawford, Bud Nealy, Al Polkowski, and if I wasn't such a beginner in knife matters I would have recognized many others.
It seems that only the best, most intricate fancy jewel encrusted knives were there, beautiful customs that you would treasure but not abuse. Most were priced over $200 with many between $400 and $800, or at least those were the ones that caught my eye. Saw some lovely samurai swords but $1800 was beyond my budget.
Production knives sold well from a few busy venders, selling Sifu's, Spydercos, Microtechs etc. On my tight budget, I was looking for a Spec-Plus SP18 or certain CRKT models, but no luck. Not many old, historical knives shown. This was more of a showcase of fancy custom knives by the makers.
There was one vender with some interesting peasant-grade Thai knives with teak handles: kitchen choppers were $15, nice smallish kukris were $40, a variety of barongs were $15-$35. These were hand made from auto springs, I believe. I could not resist one leaf-bladed model, LOA 17" & blade 9", labelled a Thai fighter by Neng. Looks like it will chop or penetrate well, seems very sturdy, but no guard (yet).
Bought a couple of books, played with expensive knives which cost more than most of my guns, poked thru lots of knife making materials like exotic woods and bare blades.
Also, saw some demonstrations of Kali-Silat in an adjoining room, that was fun.
Anyway, this is the report by a first-time knife show attendee. You can wait for more detailed and informative reports from the more experienced knife knuts after they get kicked out so the show can end.

I just got back from my 7 hours at the show. It was great. I was able to see some fellow Blade Forums members and put the faces with the names. In addition to the other makers mentioned Strider knives Tom ANderson, and Mike Snody were there. I got my first custom knife, a Snowdy neck tanto. I love every aspect of it and Mr. Snowdy and his wife were very helpful in making my decision. What great people they are. There were some beautiful custom pieces, folders and fixed. I can't wait for next year.

AWESOME show! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Nice meeting all you guys: Damon, Lev, Coronnacht (sorry for the spelling), Phantom4, Paracelsus (and sons), PJ Tomes, Duane Dwyer of Strider Knives (MAN, what a blaster THAT GUY is!

I think Lev and I stood and talked with him about 50 minutes. Sorry I kept asking so many questions, Lev.

). I'm totally psyched on a Strider knife now, just gotta collect the money to place the order.

Also got to re-connect with Barry and Phillip Jones, nice seeing you guys again. Awesome knife, BTW, that I picked up.

Met chefget in passing, but wasn't able to get over to his restaurant. He sure did have a nice Darrel Ralph stilletto!

I managed to pick up a couple: the aforementioned Jones knife (drop point hunter type, with nice stag handles and ATS-34 blade), and a hunter/skinner (L6 and giraffe bone handles) from T. Scholl.

Elishewitz had some AWESOME folders (as usual, I imagine), but all were outside what I wanted to spend this time.

There were a lot of makers there that I had never heard of (as usual), but all had beautiful work.

I could easily walk into a show like that and drop about 50 bills, if I had it to drop!

So that is my "shotgun" report on the Chesapeake knife show. Already looking forward to my next one!

The show was great, as usual. However, it was made hundreds of times the better for having met such a great group of people from the Forums! Paracelcus, get your kid to the Renaissance Festival next year! I'll show you all around. (Native guides are better.) I have to raise my hands to applaud Chefget for stuffing us full of ribs. *rousing applause*
He's got great meat, that Chef does! Thanks again to all of you for a great time! -Jim

Yeah, Gary, I looked long and hard for a guy with an Amish type beard, but couldn't find you. (I was going to bug you about making fixed blade sheaths again.

) I hung out around Les' table for a while, then wanted to get going and see what I could find to buy. I see from the other thread that you picked up one or two nice ones. I stopped by Takahashi's table myself; he had some beautiful work, even the Jones Bro's were bragging on them. Nice pick!
