Tired of youtubers failing to open tri-ads and lockbacks in frame

^I'm assuming inexperience. Maybe the op has watched some vids of a fresh from box review where the reviewer can't ninja the functions.

removed - I'm going to pull my foil hat down a little lower, and move on (ffs)...

^Yeah that's probably a good idea lol.

Look fellas... I saw a lot of guys using the wrong technique so I made a video with the right technique. If it's not your flavor then simply skip the video and be on your (hopefully) merry little way. That's the glorious thing about the internet you see, tons of diversity and if there's something you don't like then scroll past or skip it and move on with your life. It's not like you're stuck in a cashier line seething with rage because some broad is digging for her wallet in the bottom of her massive purse while her obnoxious red headed kid is punching you in the balls. Or it shouldn't be unless you have serious anger issues. Those that DO use tri-ads and stiff lockbacks might find it handy and if you're not one of them... live and let live. I'm a 100% unapologetic for making a constructive contribution and some of you need to chill out and put things into perspective before you jump on the opportunity to get riled up over nothing.

I'm mostly on your side here, OP, but I recommend calming down a bit. I like Cold Steel quite a bit, as they consistently make knives that are actually designed to cut, not to flip, pry and look pretty, but they always raise a bunch of criticism from folks who are taking a giant moral stand and have never owned one of their products. Don't take it personally. As long as Lynn acts like a jackass in shorts and an Arby's manager tie they're gonna take flak, some of it deserved.

OMG..THAT'S where I saw that tie before! It all adds up too, videos with gratuitous meat-slicing, the black clothes, lynn Thompson secretly heads Arby's and is trying to destroy the knife world from within! :D Seriously though, CS stuff is pretty well made, imo, you have to look past the Mall Ninjitsu aspect of it.

This from the guy that got bent about the nature of early responses...

I wasn't riled in the least - I was seriously trying to figure out what your gripe was. I wasn't sure if it was simply because they weren't staying in frame, or their efforts to open the knife were intermittently unsuccessful. Some of the posts made it sound as though the knives were difficult to open, and I wanted more information .
No - I've never owned a Cold Steel folder...that doesn't make me incapable of understanding, or having a discussion (ffs)
Congrats on figuring out how to open a knife  That skill will take you far (I hope)
Best of luck on your crusade to educate the masses, via video, on your techniques.

Yup. And it seems like Mr. Demko has done a lot to pull them in a more practical, utilitarian direction. The American Lawman is a nice, handy utility folder and the Tuff Lite and Mini are both blades that, honestly, would look more at home in the ultra-practical Spyderco lineup than Cold Steels catalog.

What's with the nerdy keyboard warrior attitude? It's obviously something a lot of guys struggles with. You're welcome.

I'm the keyboard warrior? You are the one trying to preach to us about how we should use our knives "properly"...

Yeah absolutely. And I totally get that to some extent because I was in the same boat many years ago. But it's still daft to act aggressively snobby over something as trivial as folding knives? And some of the responses... lets be honest they're just not healthy. Like there's differing opinions and there's festering bitter autism. Like how much does your life have to suck to get upset about anything in this thread? Let alone a video. It's just weird. But hey whatever...

Lol "properly" is your hang up? And I'm "preaching"?

Yeah ok my bad. Sorry about that. Clearly I'm the problem here.

And I'm "preaching"?
Don't do it "This way" do it "this way, this is correct"
Look fellas... I saw a lot of guys using the wrong technique so I made a video with the right technique.
That's the preaching bit they were talking about...

Whoa whoa whoa! He has shown us how we are supposed to Open them correctly, not use.

we cut with the square side, not the sharp side, right?

In all seriousness, open your knife how it suits you and how you prefer to do it... I don't care if you want to tie the pocket clip to a fire hydrant and the thumb stud to a truck hitch and Yank, or want to take 15 minutes to open it with your feet...

Thanks for the help, but if someone is to the point that they are purchasing a knife that costs over $100, I think they would have some knowledge about how to use them.

To paraphrase a line from your post that I quoted,

I'm 100% unapologetic for making an informative contribution and you need to chill out. Put things into perspective before you get riled up over responses that equate to nothing.

Your opinion will not be accepted by others when calling them "nerdy keyboard warriors" while critiquing the technique of opening a knife properly. It is a pot kettle thing.

Don't like how certain people do their youtuberies? Don't watch them. No need to start a crusade against improper technique. If your technique is fine by your standards what do you care what others do?

Well, what is the problem here?

What is this threads purpose? To save YouTube?

Lol no it's obviously a clever rouse to trigger the oppositional defiant disorder you've nurtured from years of being pushed around by mommy or getting stuffed into lockers or whatever...

Like I said I saw guys using the wrong technique and made a video. So what's your problem? I'm not telling you to do anything. I'm not punching your arm, I'm not telling you to finish your meal and I'm certainly not "preaching". Stop being such a millennial baby already.

I've had enough of this so if you want the last word then be my guest.

The issue is that you think that your method is The Correct One, not the one that the owner chooses to use.
It is your Pride and Ego that is setting folks off, and coincidentally not allowing you to realize that...

Thanks for the video, and just state that it is an easier option, not the "right technique"...

What's the deal with "flicking" or whatever you want to call it a blade open. Why not just thumb the knife open in a normal controlled motion? I just don't get the obsession with flicking the blade and slamming it open with a generally loud mechanical click. To me its like slamming your car door as hard as you can every time you get out of your car, people would think you are crazy.

I feel bad for people that like cold steel.

I love cold steel. All of my knives are made of it and they are all great blades.
You'll never catch me buying anything ftom Cold Steel though.
