My very first traditional pocket knife was this 1970s Camillus made Buck 303 and my most recent one is this Otter Knife spear point. My preference has changed from multi blades to single blade ones.

I’ll enter. Thanks for the opportunity and congrats on 6k posts. I really enjoy the photos and posts you bring to the forum.

I first started reading this forum about 5 years ago. I lurked for a couple years before I joined and waited a couple more years before posting a picture. So, here is the first picture I posted on here about a year ago:

I’m a fan of the fence post shot, as there are plenty around when I’m at work.

Here’s the most recent knife-related picture I posted on here a couple weeks ago:

Apparently I’ve gotten worse at composing a picture. For me it seems like it depends on what I’m doing at the time. Sometimes I have time to compose a better picture and sometimes it’s just a quick spur of the moment thing. Here’s another recent one:

Fine coin stash Admire the Gothic Florin in particular, I used to have a 'Godless' Florin from 1849 which caused a furore at the time among the 'devout' The Florin was an early and abortive attempt to decimalise the illogical British money system. 1 Pound divided into 20 Shillings, 1 Shilling divide into 240 Pennies and divisions of the Penny Halfpenny and Farthing 1/4 Penny...you try doing % or fractions with that system The British only got round to decimal currency 1 Pound = 100 Pennies in 1971 They still persist with their weird weights & measures as do you Americans (only different gallons...) Furlongs anyone?

Well I don't understand milliliters and centimeters. Give me ounces, pints, quarts, and inches, feet, yards. When my wife tells me she ran ten miles, I understand immediately. If she gives me the kilometers, I gotta do some figuring.

Unfortunately, most of my older photos went the way of my now abandoned hole-in-the-photobucket!

That's a real beauty.
Since I've just recently been able to start posting pictures, pictures taken on my (allegedly) "smart" phone are "too big" to upload (resolution is set as low as possible), I have no photo editing software to fix that, and the auto focus on my tablet (who's pictures are "small" enough to post) needs glasses, I'm not going to enter for me.
I'd like to nominate Henry Beige , in my stead, please.
He entered for me in another GEC GAW. I'd like to return the favor.

I’ll join in if I may. I keep very few knife photos, so I don’t have any older ones. I’ll go with oldest vs latest. Since joining the forum my acquisitions have increased dramatically, but I keep coming back to a couple of patterns time and time again.

My oldest Stockman that I’ve held onto for about 23 years is an Old Timer Grandad gave me. The latest is. Schrade 881 in Stainless.

My oldest SAK is my very first, a Victorinox Small Tinker bought in the late 80’s while I was in the Marines. I bought to replace, what else, a 34OT I had lost. My latest SAK, a Nylon scaled Camper.

I can't say that my photography has changed much over the years - relatively mediocre - improved mainly by the advancement in cell phone camera technology. Instead I'll showcase how my tastes have changed.

This first picture is a relatively accurate sample of my earlier purchases, or at least my earlier preferences in patterns and styles.

And these are some more recent purchases.

The differences should be obvious. Initially I was drawn to traditionals that combined multiple blade types - at least one curved and one straight - giving me a lot of handiness and utility all in one compact knife. Lately though I've been drawn to single blades. My favorite of the 2 to carry are the 92 and the 15, as the spear point gives me a good compromise of a straighter edge with a curved tip (I'm not big on knives with a lot of belly). Frankly, a tribal spear would probably be my most ideal style, but I haven't acquired one yet.

This post is definitely an entry in this fantastic giveaway. I really wanted to pick up a single blade 78 in ironwood when they came out, but I just couldn't swing the cash at the time. Lamentably I don't have any knives in desert ironwood yet, despite living where the trees grow. Thanks for the chance!

Here are the first pictures ever shared here on BF of my first traditional knife. I was a very proud papa.

I couldn’t have loved this #25 more. It was a great introduction to traditional knives. It had perfect action and strong snap. Based on this knife I rejected quite a few knives that didn’t measure up. I still love small knives, but my tastes have evolved over the past five years. Basically, I now just love everything GEC makes.

Congrats on 6k Dylan! You’re a big contributor here. The GAW is just too beautiful to not try for. I’m not much of a photographer, though I wish I was. I’ll play both categories, though personally I like the second one best!

catagory 1:
First picture (as far as I can tell).

and my latest picture:

indoor lighting is impossible for me to get right. Close ups are tough. Phone cameras I suspect are lacking in some critical capabilities. Yet I try anyway!

Category 2: I think I was 8 or 9 and in a Caldors with my mother, when I noticed this fishing tool had a knife on it. I distinctly remember asking mom if she’d get it for me, and I believe I left out the part about the blade part of the tool. She bought it for me, and it’s technically the first knife I’ve ever owned. I just found it recently. The latest was an offer from r8shell which I couldn’t refuse! The 2017 BF TC Barlow with the canvas micarta and sheepsfoot blade. Funny... probably just coincidence, but they are both sheepsfoot blades. Also... since I’m taking this picture this morning, I suppose it’s my latest as well, so I’m going to try hard for a good picture. Also I’m including one of the two knives I first purchased when I was about 13- a Case small stockman. The mini copperlock that came the same time has been misplaced. I think by chance, “sheepsfoot” is the common theme. Golly... This bringing me to terms with my own mortality; I’ve lived some life.
