TK Magazine "Wilderness Knife"

Tsk, tsk. Dragging downstream.... Bad mojo. :D Good thing the knife was at the ready!! Your buddy owes you a hand.
I know some fellers who lost a brand new jet boat up here doing a search. Almost lost two or three searchers as well. Which is why we now go upstream. Lots of time to act.

T'is amazing where people will go without proper gear and training, and worse yet, no idea that they don't have it. I met some canoe travelers on the MacKenzie River near Ft Good Hope once. They had walked up to the local store for some supplies. They each had a small rucksack and an empty cooler to be filled. I asked them where they stashed their gear, and they said, "this is it." Wow. We had a chat. Then they bought PFDs, a Grohmann, an axe, some bear spray, a tarp, a waterproof container for matches, and a whack of other stuff. They just didn't have a clue. They were lucky to have made it that far.
And you SAR folks, "that's what you guys are for" (?) I says, pardon? FFS. I hope you fully express your feelings when you hear that sort of crap.

What.... Isn't that why you are there? So we can all be free to smoke in bed, canoe without pfds, climb without ropes and swim without waiting an hour after we eat???? I mean, it's not like you risk your lives or your family's future trying to save or locate our stupid asses.

Your type are always thinking of yourselves.....:barf:

Yea, if you ever go to one of the ultralight hiking forums, like the ones that cater to the AT trail hikers, they'll jump your ass if you say you're planning to bring a Mora, or a Nessmuk, or sometimes, even a SAK.

The funny thing is if you go to Ray Jardine's (THE Godfather of ultalight backpacking) website, he sells do-it-yourself Mora kits.

"Knifemaking is one of my hobbies and I find it most enjoyable. Making a knife gets me away from the daily distractions, and affords a bit of personal space and time to think. But most of all, I love making beautiful knives, fashioning them in various creative ways, and using them in the wilds - for preparing food, cleaning fish, making shavings for starting the campfire, carving wooden components for the bow drill method of primitive firemaking, for whittling, cutting basketry materials, and many other uses around camp. These knives would also be indispensable in a survival situation."

Here's the link:http://www.rayjardine.com/ray-way/Knife-Kit/index.htm

I wonder if the ultralight AT thru hikers would jump his ass after reading such blasphemy!
