One of the forum members brought this to my attention today. There is a person selling counterfeit copies of the Emerson Commander knife. I am not talking about $6.95 knock offs. I’m talking about cheap Chinese knives marked with our logo and selling for over $100.00. Look closely and you can clearly see the difference. I know what knives made in China cost. Believe it or not you can actually buy them by the pound and not for a per unit cost. This is part of the reason. I’m always so pissed about the other knife companies that have their knives made in China. I know what they pay for them. And, I know what they sell for. But I digress.

Whoever this guy is he is selling these pieces of shxt for a huge profit and at a price that the buyer is fooled into thinking he is getting an authentic Emerson. There is not a lot you can do legally with jerks like this except stop them from selling. And this is only temporary – as you know. The best tactics always come from you, the forum members.

Please have your way with him.

My Best Regards,

Mr. Emerson, I hope youy get the scum that are doing that!! I am positively disgusted by this, and daring to sully the good name of Emerson!!!!

It looks like the seller ended the bidding. If you check the bidders list you will see that it looks like a dozen of these knives were sold.

Thanks for the heads up Ernie. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how low some will stoop to make or take a buck from their fellow man.

Another Ebay warning sign - the seller has their feedback marked as "private". Every time I see that - it's bad news.

I have a ten-year-old Emerson, that is still running strong. And it's real - that's why. Thanks again for the heads up!

the guy should be investigated to see what else hes probably got going on too.maybe i could" investigate" him with my cqc8 , nah , ijust hope he gets caught and severely mistreated.

Ok,go ahead and laugh....I bought one of these knives...I contacted all the other bidders, and filed a fraud report with Paypal, and have to wait the mandated 10 days before I can file a fraud report with Ebay...
:grumpy: I`l do my best to nail him....

well I bought 4 of them...2 from the ebay auction and 2 directly from pricepiontusa.com...it just seems unbeliveable...they even made fake boxes

you know what they say...if it's too good to be true it probably is

If anybody laughs at you they're an a$$hole. You were making an honest attempt to buy a decent American made knife, and got burned. There's plenty of shame involved in the incident, but not one bit of it is towards you.

I'm sorry to hear ya' got screwed by this clown, and I hope you can nail his a$$ to the wall, and don't wind up minus $100 bucks or so.

Hope things work out for you too, guyakomis!

Hello.
I also bought one of these. I was surprised when the auction ended at such a low price. I'd bid mostly to entertain myself, not expecting to win. The seller's eBay feedback is indeed private, but that only keeps us from reading the comments, not the numerical rating, which is perfect; I checked that, at least, before bidding. The seller has responded to my question, saying that he's just a re-seller and will issue refunds. I have decided to wait and see. If the knife does turn out to be a fake, it will be evidence for a mail fraud complaint with the postmaster.

Exactly what he told me-I`m gonna check out the knife when it gets here, and
go from there...it should be easy to tell if it`s a fake

Help me out guys-I'm the newest member of the "Fake Emerson Knife Buyer's Club"-I ordered 1 and to my close side-by-side inspection between it and my REAL CQC-7, I noticed only subtle differences. I've carried one of E.E.'s knives for 5 years now and I'm gonna need some help on what to look for-I don't know if I'm being too picky or not. Also, let me know what I can do to fight this guy-I am new to ebay, so I'm gonna contact the seller first and then file a fraud alert with ebay. Let me know if we as a "club" can do something collectively. Thanks.

I spoke with the seller on the phone-he said he will refund total cost plus return shipping to anyone who bought one of these knives-he seems legit-before any of u get wrapped around the axle with fraud and such, maybe u should give him a call urself or send the knife back-signature confirmation service ofcourse. As a broker, he could very well be "innocent" in all this-his story makes sense-he says he brokered these from another knife shop owner whose story seemed legit-he says he even contacted Emerson knives to ask them about this knife vs. new Commander: logo closer to handle vs. further towards the tip; 3 set screws in the middle of the handle vs. the top and no production #-and Emerson knives confirmed it as the original Commander. The only thing I can readily see is that the set screws are torx instead of phillips, but I figured that thats just what he did for this model back then? Anyways, I'm gonna personally contact Emerson and find out for myself since I haven't received proof that its fake from anyone yet. So, if anyone could please enlighten me as to what constitutes fake, I'd sure like to know. I've carried his knives for years and this one doesn't scream fake to me-other than possibly the set screws and possibly blade markings.

it would probably be better to call EKI than email themm . they are really good people and easy to talk to.

I hope this seller ends up refunding every penny and then gets stuck with these fakes. The fact is though that there will always be some other way of unloading these knives on unsuspecting knife enthusiasts.

They are indeed fake. I have seen up close pictures of the knives. The screws are wrong (Emerson never used torx screws). The grooves in the handle are wrong. The blade grind isn't even close (saw it next to a '98 Commander for reference). The wave is flat on the front, not rounded. The logo is totally wrong. The boxes and warranty cards are good forgeries, but the plastic bag is apparently more like CD wrapper than the heavier stuff EKI uses. Un-freakin-believeable.

Unfortunately this is just like all the other knock offs being sold out there. Fake name brand perfume, stealing designer buttons from clothing then sewing them to fakes selling them as the real designer. Imitation stereo components being sold from cars in parking lots and the list goes on. Years ago, I new a kid during the holidays pushing fake Rolex watches. [fyi real Rolex watches have continuous motion second hand movement, they to not stop with each second tick] I remember talking to Gil Hibben a few years ago and they were trying to figure out if they could do anything to stop the companies having chinese copies of his designs reproduced. But selling them [these chinese knock offs] for full retail, hiding where they were actually made is fraud and I think they are set up for legal problems if prosecuted.
