To All Bladeforum Members

is there anything special about '00 commanders, i know the '98's were popular due to the larger liners but i would as soon have a new one myself vs a '00, i have had several '00 EKI's and i think the F&F is better now than then, IIRC the '05 liners are either the same or slightly thicker than the '00, point being are the '00's worth a premium??

I think some people just like the older style look of the 00s. If a 00 is new in the box it should be the same in value IMO. Of course as the years go by and they become harder to find who knows?

I bought 8 of these to give out as Christmas gifts. Thank God I haven't given them out yet. Imagine having to say to people on Christmas "can I have my gift back, I just found out it's fake".

Well I called Adam from Pricepoint & he seems like a stand up guy. It really does seem like he's gonna be the ultimate victim in all this. He said he'd refund all my money today & that I can send back his knives after I get the refund.

I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks to Bladeforums & Mr. Emerson that I found all this out before it was too late.

And I shall always live by that saying from now on... "If it's too good to be true..."

Guys,

Tough luv. Some years back I was sold a Buck on a competitor's bid site and got something made in Pakistan. Sitting with a warrant got me a new, genuine one and the stock confiscated.

Rule one (and only) they sell you an Emmerson they must provide you with a real Emmerson. Returning money does't solve the problem whilst sending you a new genuine one does. Ebay should enforce this over the simple cop out of the returning of money.

Rip offs create a quick buck for the seller at the long term expense of the Real manufacturer.

These guys are pocketing 75% of what you pay so refunding an odd complainant means squat.

The seller should have checked the product he was selling or prosecute his supplier etc until the real con is tackled. The balance of his stock sent onto Emmerson for destruction.

I have decided to respond to all the self rightious people who have obviously never made a mistake in there whole life. The knives sold where given to me to sell as a broker and presented to me as old stock commander knives. They sold and I paid the individual his money and he is no were to be found. Now I have refunded to everyone , not the odd refund, the money out of my own pocket, so to say a simple refund does not solve the problem is an insult. This has cost me personally out of my own pocket over $3000 to make sure no one got hurt by this.I know what some will say, You should have checked the knives , Well I did, I went to the emerson site found a picture of the old commander and to me it looked the same , but I even called to verify that at the time they used 3 screws instead of two. Now as far as the type of screws I did not ask ,not being a emmerson expert, but I looked at all my other high line knives and they all use tourk screws, so to my that was even more the reason to believe what I was told. Anyway , that is beside the point, The fact is that I am the only one that has been hurt by this, and I do appreciate the patiece and understanding of most of the people involved. However to the self rightious and defernders of the faith , I just hope that when something like this happens to you , you have the integrety to make it right out of your own pocket and that you have fun dealing with all the judgemental jerks who opporate out of arrogance and without all the facts.

In all of this,I have always said you were the one who got the shaft much worse than any of us....You stepped up,and made it right-YOU got burned, made a honest mistake, and showed that you were honest...
Would I buy from you again? YES....Did I leave you postitive feedback on Ebay?
YES!! We all get screwed sometime, and you showed a great deal of class in this situation-as far as I`m concerned,it`s over, and I feel bad for you-it`s a shame that these things happen.
Yes,I paid for an Emerson knife, and that`s not what I got,but you were not some fly-by night rip-off artist, and you shouldn`t be treated as such!

The Ebay seller is in TN. Buy a knife. Go to the return address and have a conversation with the man. Or have him served a summons.

Oh, and thanks for the Warning, E.E.

.

Wow, what a mouth off. Yeah I doubt that many people on the forum have not made mistakes, and there are fewer virgins. There are also many people getting burned out there and a strong level of anger, read right through the postings prior to mine.

I am deeply cynical as I am usually the gofer who has to go, audit and clear up messes. If the root of the problem is not tackled it will raise itself under another guise later. Some one else will do it elsewhere or someone like you is going to face the heat.

Not keeping a paper trail is a major no-no seconded only by poor checking (check, check again and check the checker). When I buy anything not from a recognised dealer I run a check with various dealers and the manufacturers. You would be surprised what turns up. No you won’t be surprised at what turns up, only who is doing it.

It begs the question who is distributing these sophisticated knock offs and what else are they doing?

Is it legal to advertise a knife as an "Emerson Replica"? Is it in accord with yahoo policy?

On the same site, they blatantly rip off the Wave- and the kerambit.

Kerambit featuring an Emerson style notch on the top of the blade for easy no hand opening when removed from your pocket. Metal handles witht he customary lanyard hole for a finger to fit in and a stainless steel blade. The Kerambit style has alwasy featured extreme amounts of cutting ability with smaller bladed knives. If you want an all purpose knife that can be used in most any situation, you have found a pocket knife we recommend highly.

The guy who posted the fake emerson on ebay; if he is acting surprised that the items he sold are fakes and that he is just a broker, then why is his rating "private". He must have known something ahead of time. I think he thought he could get away with a quick buck and then disappear. I don't think he knew so many people would react so quickly. Thanks Ernest.

Treading a very, very fine line. You would be able to market something as a Replica if it looked like one but was significantly different to be easily told apart, in the case of Emerson a "Made in China" is a dead give away. Where guys repeatedly fall into the hole is when it is identical, has the exact name and/or breaches some copyright/patent (very likely).

Notably very few USA companies find it worth their while to make replicas of current lines without permission as the legal fees researching the issues would be prohibitive so better to make an original.

Some guy named ravenhawk57 is trying to sell another one of these fakes on ebay right now. Looks like they won't be going away any time soon.

Personally, I think the guy is not a victim like someone had posted earlier. That is just my opinion. I was in the market about a year ago for a new cellphone. I saw someone selling hundreds of new Nokias way below retail. The seller's rating was 100% a few hundred transactions. I was still hesitant because the prices were so low. I checked the sellers feedback for previous transactions and I noticed all this seller has sold only doll parts and clothing, each transaction ending for less than $1. In the end I didn't make a bid because of these subtle cues that a scam was going on, but many people did make bids.
I felt this seller padded his rating in the past to make a huge score now. I did "watch" the item though. A few weeks later, the seller was banned from ebay. Not really sure if the person was able to get away with anything or what, but I have feeling he screwed many people.
Really, what kind of seller is he if he doesn't have any clue about the product he is selling. It's not like he is an employee of Wal-Mart. He is just selling one kind of knife.
I think Ernest contact the seller and the seller got spooked.
Everything just seems suspicious to me.
I still shop on ebay constantly, but I am more careful now when it comes to big ticket items. I have around 350 transactions and I have been scamed a couple of times, but they weren't big deals though. Just things like sunglasses being sold as new when they were slightly used. Things like that.
So for everyone who got scammed. Good luck to all of you. I hope you guys get all of your money back. Even the shipping fees!
Ernest good luck to you to and thanks for the heads up.

Man You Got Me, I "padded" My Ebay Rating For A Couple Of Years, Selling Hundreds Of Knives And Other Items With Perfect Transactions Just Waiting To Make My Big Score, Then After All That Trouble I Sold An Item On The Most Public Forum In The World And Thought No One Would Notice. Do You See How Foolish That Sounds. I Mean Really, I Have Tried Not To Say To Much About This Because It Has Cost Me Thousands Of Dollars And Unbelivable Stress, But When I Read Comments From People Not Even Involved That Are So Utterly Stupid It Is Hard Not To Respond, Especially After Correcting The Problem With Everyone Out Of My Own Pocket. Did You Notice That The People Who Are Involved Have Positive Things To Say On The Forum, Wonder Why, Because They Have The Facts. Oh Yeah Facts Of A Situation Before Making Wild Statements. Oh Do I Sound Upset, try Being Judged By A Bunch Of People Who Dont Know You , Never Dealt With You ,yet Feel Free To Slander You. Do You, Any Of You Really Thing That A Person Would Knowingly Sell A Fake Item Of Any Kind On The Largest Most Public Forum In The World And Think No One Would Notice! If So No Matter What I Say It Will Not Make Any Difference Because If You Do You Are The Type Of Person That Your Own Opinion Is More Important Tnan Facts.also Just To Put A Couple Of Things Straight , I Was Never Contacted By Emerson In Any Way, Second If You Think A "big Score" Is A Few Hundered Dollars Then You Must Think $7.50 An Hour Is Making Big Money, In Other Words Way Off And Ridiculous. I Know Now All The Nay Sayers Will Write A Bunch Of Crap , Because Most People Will Never Admit When Thay Have Made A Mistake And Correct It, Like Taking Responsibility And Refunding Money Out Of There Own Pockets.like I Said Before, I Hope That Some Judgemental Person With No Real Ideal Of The Facts Of The Situation Is There To Say Whatever He Wants About You The Next Time You Make A Mistake So You Know How It Feels. I Probably Will Not Write Anymore On This Whatever Else Someone Else Writes, It Has Been Taken Care Of With The People Actually Involved And I Want To Thank Them For There Patiance And Understanding, now I Want To Put It Behind Me, Besides You Cant Reason With People Who Dont Want To Be Confused By The Facts.
