I spoke with the seller on the phone-he said he will refund total cost plus return shipping to anyone who bought one of these knives-he seems legit-before any of u get wrapped around the axle with fraud and such, maybe u should give him a call urself or send the knife back-signature confirmation service ofcourse. As a broker, he could very well be "innocent" in all this-his story makes sense-he says he brokered these from another knife shop owner whose story seemed legit-he says he even contacted Emerson knives to ask them about this knife vs. new Commander: logo closer to handle vs. further towards the tip; 3 set screws in the middle of the handle vs. the top and no production #-and Emerson knives confirmed it as the original Commander. The only thing I can readily see is that the set screws are torx instead of phillips, but I figured that thats just what he did for this model back then? Anyways, I'm gonna personally contact Emerson and find out for myself since I haven't received proof that its fake from anyone yet. So, if anyone could please enlighten me as to what constitutes fake, I'd sure like to know. I've carried his knives for years and this one doesn't scream fake to me-other than possibly the set screws and possibly blade markings.

I got mine today-nothing about it says"fake" to me,also...it came in a box, with all the Emerson paperwork....SO....help us out-I will post pics as soon as I can,and I would like to get some feedback!
Let us know if these are the real deal,or damn good fakes!

ok guys, I just got mine in the mail. I compared it to a real 2000 commander that I have and the difference is unmistakeable. They ARE fakes 100% for sure. The few details that jump out right away...The fakes have star drive screws, I've never seen them on any emerson knife. Next the pocket clip is a shiny black finish, the radial thumb lug is totally wrong not even close to the real thing. Looking at the real one and the fake right next to each other it's totally obvious, not even close.Fake Fake Fake Fake Fake, total B.S.

Also I just weighed them both and the result was pretty telling.
The real 2000 commander weighed 136 grams.
The fake 2000 commander weighed 148 grams.
I'm pretty sure that is due to the fakes liners being made of steel rather than titanium. Either way there is no way one could belive that two knives from the same production run would have a 12 gram variation.Like I said, total B.S.

Thanks for the update Guy-I didn't think he ever used torx screws, and upon closer inspection, I did notice that the thumb disc doesn't sit flush in the detent-u can see daylight through the blade!! I also did some sniffin online and the Commanders I saw, 99's had either slotted or phillips screws-no torx crap.

also the washers on both sides of the pivot bolt are plastic. No way would Mr. Emerson ever put a piece of plastic on one of his knives.

I told him I want my refund up front, first, before I send the knife!
He does seem to be honestly upset, and willing to make it right.....
Just a question-has Mr Emerson contacted this guy?
If he is honest,I think that between the 2 of them, they could maybe track these fakes down, and get the makers...?

I'm pissed now-I really wanted the 2000 style Commander-someone school me on all the various Commanders-i like the 2000 and earlier because it has the false edge-the new ones don't-also, where can I get me one? I'm not a collector-just someone who carries and uses quality blades-and Emerson happens to be my choice.

Cole, There actually is a real 2000 commander for auction on ebay right now. That's probably the only place you'll find one. I know what you're saying, I like the the old grind better than the new one. That's why I was so stoked about buying 4 of them. Oh well...
if you go to ebay, search emerson knives, it's all the way at the bottom. I've bought probably 25 emersons off ebay and this is the first time I've been burned.

I asked the seller why he was selling fakes, this was his reply:

"I am a wholesale broker who sells merchandise for individuals or companys who want to liquidate merchandise. These knives were presented to me as old stock Emerson commander knives. If there is ever a problem with any merchandise that is sold through myself it is of huge concern, and I will do everything possible to correct the situation. Please return knife and all money will be refunded."

Hope this helps.

Guy-
I know of the one on ebay-I emailed that guy earlier this am, right after I learned of the hoax, because I didnt know if his was real, and if it was, I wanted to know what authenticated it so I could know for sure about mine. Well, he emailed me back-very arrogant and pompous-of how his knife wasn't anything like mine 'cause mine was fake, and his was not-blah,blah,blah. Besides, he's obviously set his reserve pretty high-I already bid 150 and was immediately shot down. Thats alright, I know where to safely buy a new Commander for just over $150, but its the new grind. Oh well-that guy is a f%$#ing shmuck anyways. Thanks for the heads up though. On a brighter note, I also contacted a seller who was selling one just like ours-the auction was set to close in a day and some change-he closed the auction and did some investigating-turns out he bought 15 of them from some conman in Florida, according to him. He seems pretty pissed and says he is going to follow up with this guy. He also said that he's already sold some of these, but will happily refund the cash. You never know whos the crook and whos innocent when it comes to electronic sellers. Kinda daunting, isn't it........I think we should all do what skroll is doing-ask for a refund before returning the phonies-I mean we've already been put out enough, right?

I don't know. If you give pricepointusa the beneifit of the doubt then he is really the biggest victim in this whole thing. I mean imagine the flack he has had to put up with in the last couple days. I'm inclined to think he really didn't know they were fakes. If for no other reason than he isn't dodging peoples calls and emails and I know that most people haven't been "undrestanding" about the whole situation. The real M.F.er is the "genious" who decided to make fake commanders (and not even good ones at that). I mean come on, guys who carry Emersons are detail oriented to begin with, to actually expect that nobody would notice is ignorant to say the least. So all I'm saying is, for me the only person responsible is the maker. I'm just going to make the end of this situation as painless as possible. And if he doesn't give refunds after I return the knives, all I have to do is notify paypal and I'm confident I'll get my money back. But I really think he'll give the refunds like he said he would.

Guy-
I was talking about the other guy selling the real 2000 Commander-not our friend at pricepoint.

I got my money back today, and shipped the knife back-I really think the seller was a victim as well.....
I feel like even more of a goof, since I DON`T really buy knives from Ebay...
I have a buisness licence, and so,I can get knives wholesale(I sell a few on Ebay),but when I was looking for the Emerson,my distributer was backordered..
So..just for fun,I checked out Ebay, and saw a deal on the knife I wanted, for even less than I would pay wholesale!! WOW!!
And,it was a fake....lol
After this mess,I just put in a backorder with my wholesaler, and I will get my knife whenever they get some...
Just goes to show you-if it sounds too good to be true,it probably is!!!
I will get my 2005 Emerson (100% REAL,NOT A FAKE),from the people I should have bought from in the first place...I just have to wait a bit!

If someone really had their heart set on a 2000 Commander for whatever reason, I purchased one from PVK Knives in Satin Serrated last year. Real, new old stock. They have a pic on their site. About a month ago I was thinking of buying another and they had 2 left for $169. Call and ask if interested.
