How is the retention on that firesteel?

designed to hang handle down, 'steel up...but it's snug. I can turn it upside down and shake, and bang against my hand....dont come out.

I also just reworked the top near the handle, on the thumbramp side. Thats why I like to take pics, I notice things that aren't as apparent in person. Much niocer profile/lines now.

Thrill, that looks sweet!

Bush, that is hilarious, seen it before and couldn't stop laughing :D

I'm diggin' that firesteel spot. Haven't seen it before.

GB, I was linked to that on another forum awhile back and have been looking for it ever since. Thanks, it's still funny as hell! TB, great work!

Interesting lay out on the sheath tb. Haven't seen that before.

it aint the nicest regrind in history, but its a crazy slicer now. Also removed the whale fin thumbramp and some of the spine so the thum divot wasnt so pronounced. Also convexed the edge and she is hair popping sharp. like it throws hair all over the room

thanks guys.

I retouched it a little, set the steel in a lil deeper, reprofiled around the handle, finish sanded it.
now the 'steel is Not coming out, heated it a mite then shoved it in against a doorframe. I have to ''poke'' it with the tip of the 14 from inside the sheath to push it out enuff to grab hold of. Also makes the 'steel less prominent for pocket-carry. the 'steel hole also makes a excellent drain hole. The knife doesnt rub against it though.

I doubt it's original, but I've never seen a 'steel integral with the sheath (in Kydex). I dont like the external 'steel loops. I got the idea from looking at Sky's crossdraw sheaths.

Cool idea and great execution, TB.
I wonder if you cut out one end of the kydex around the firesteel to make it easier to slide out. Sort of like the index cutout on big dictionaries.

thanks. That's actually an ingenious idea...but it aint something I would want to ''draw'' normally, more of a ''emergency/backup/JIC'' item, I want to keep it as retentive as possible, but if I was planning on using the 'steel everyday, the index cut would work!

on a sidenote, I ordered the rivets from ''Strife Bits Cot Mom'' (or something that rhymes with that). They are black, but the coating wears off immediately with any sort of work on/around them. Not a big deal, the brass looks nice too, but I ordered BLACK. If I wanted brass I would have bought the brass. Just a mild rant.

Nice work, Thill'y!
I've been thinking about the bolt-on style accessories, but that's sweet.
