I think it's more a day for celebrating China's accomplishments over the past 60 years. In 1949 they were a very militarily and economically weak country and they've transformed into a very powerful country in the past 60 years. I think the Chinese try to focus on what they've accomplished and not the death toll.

Some of the regular folks may not like the government but you can't exactly go and send a stern letter to your local representative like we can here.

please lock up this issue thread!
is here a busse knife sub-forum?
we are here , cause love busse knives!
no need to make fuss here,go and try,if you wanta overthrow a bad regime .
:D

Hey Gator, yep it is the same army. However, now that China has more international attention and prestige the government wouldnt pull crap of that scale again for fear of bad image.

I'm pully my "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh" face right now.

2* That is an interesting moral equivalent. And not one I would make or want to try and argue for. I will leave that to much sillier people. Since when has totalitarian regimes given a wiff about "morals"? The State is everything..... and the people are happy and cheerful in their lives - dictated by the Great Leaders

again with the eeeh face... Just because our system is different doesn't mean we're free from darkness. no one should ever, ever, ever consider themselves or their country to be flawless. such things do not exist.

getting away from any "we're better/their better" arguments: despite the sometimes political nature of lachines posts and the occasional lack of busse content, I enjoy them as a snapshot of the daily life of a citizen in china, something we just don't get to see that often. Thank you for posting

True - and under "The One"s cult of personality I do get concerned about where things are going here. But still I would not say its a matter of degrees - I would suggest miles as the unit of measurement.

And I am not sure what all lachine really can say about life in-country other than life is great.(police state and all;)) But I too am glad he is here and also enjoy his posts.

Nuff said - God bless the individual and his God given rights to free speach! For it is the collective that stifles innovation and freedom!:D:thumbup:

How did you guys like your new ring tones they sent you as gifts over the chinese national cellular service provider? did you get yours?

I guess it all depends on what you call freedom, or rather how you define it as to how you regard other nations.

Personally I think it's only a matter of time before things change over there, the seeds of capitalism are growing ever more every day there. Nice pics keep em coming, I think maybe that's part of his point.

nop, man.
country and party is not the same thing!
today is our National Day!!!!!!!!!
cheer up!:D:D:D

Hello Dingy, October 1st the day PRC formed in 1949. Which is lead by Communist Chinese. In the way....sorry, if it sound offended to you or other Chinese group, which drift draft is right, it is to celebrate 60th anniversary of Chinese communism.

To most of other Chinese, National Day is October 10th. Which is "Wuchang Uprising" fought by ALL Chinese lead by Nationalist to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China in 1911. The end of emperor system. Freedom, freemen as many would like to call it.

Country and party is kinda same thing when party lead the country. That is just how others sees. Party and citizen, civilian are indeed different. Although China is more open now, it is still lead by one party only. The communist party. I don't think your action is wrong, but it is not proper.

This is a knife forum, people do love Busse knives, people love people too but some topic are sensitive should stay away from forum.

I am a Nationalist Chinese grew up in Republic of China. I am happy for you that you love your country and you are a proud Chinese. A proud Chinese is my brother!

I'm liking this combo:cool:

They look better in person.:o

Thanks for your pic threads lachine, my daughters and I enjoy them.

Lets agree to disagree.

My point was that no country is absolute Capitalism and Communism. China, as stated above, has evolved from a poverty stricken communistic country to one that is no longer haunted by poverty of the masses. Unlike pure communism, income is not distributed according to need; in fact, China's economy has moved to free enterprise, and continues to develop. It is moving more and more toward Capitalism, but you cant expect it to happen overnight.

I am not trying to start a flame war or get people angry, just dont like people posting negative stuff on my own country's 60th anniversary. Thats for another day and another time if you want to discuss. Americans wouldnt want people discussing Hiroshima and the middle east on a day they are most proud.

Damn nice Busse by the way Helle, the top one looks like a beast.

Whether you like it or not, there is no way to avoid conflict of interest.

Lachine has been a long time member here and I always enjoy his photos and links. And he can hack thru bamboo like nobody's business!
Thanks Lachine!

If my neighbor is celebrating his birthday by displaying legion of guns and knives in his front yard, I would call police for that is intimidation.

Most likely those guns and knives are running a show for R.O.C. Taiwan. Not America. As a Taiwan born, I see it as a "reminder", not a "threat". In case American not truely understand. Army march on National Day is a Chinese celebration routine. Communist Chinese does it, Nationalist Chinese does it too. The purpose is not post a threat to other country but ensure country citizen's saft. "We can protect you." is the message. Not "we are after you. you better watch out."

Looking back to Chinese history. Before Qing Dynasty, Chinese always kills Chinese to form new empire. 1900 we were force to defense ourselves against 8 countries. WWII we first defense ourself against Japanese then we fight each other. Why America now need to feel threaten? Plus, China now value more about economy than anything else.

Just because other country don't celeberate with army march doesn't mean Chinese countries can't celeberate by their own ways. Just because Communist North Korean leader is dumb shit doesn't mean Communist Chinese leader is as dumb. Chinese are very much different than other nation, we don't expect anyone to fully understand we do but to leave us room to express who we are.

China march their army. Taiwan should feel threaten, but we are not. Why should America be? Maybe the army march is for China's bad neighbor North Korea? If a neighbor says they got nukes, I think displaying legion of guns and knives is neccessary.

Communist Chinese may not be your friend, but doesn't need to be an enemy.

i admire your insight!

Im born and bred an American and I will say that my generation doesnt see China the way older generations do. Communism, capitalism...none of it works....all that is left is CORPORATISM....thats where no gov matters because its run by global corps....we all share the burden of fixing the world and keeping peace..

But besides that China is a cultural wonderland and a super power!!!

America has been spiraling down and down so dont pretend that our way is the best. America has been around about as long as a single Dynasty in China, so show some respect...

And you wanna talk freedom...its an illusion...we cant even scratch our own asses in this country without getting sued. lawyers have taken freedom and destroyed it. judges cant rule harshly, politicians cant be gay or atheist cuz they wont get elected, we are just getting over our country being a racist majority, we can barely tolerate a blck president (who half the country thinks is a muslim spy), teachers and principals cant discipline students for fear of being fired or sued...where is your freedom??...we fear "BIG Brother," but guess what? we are our own big brother...we watch and report everything and we all have no privacy!!. And all the while walmart sells us cheaply made chinese products and we flock to it because we all know no better

Hello Cappy2cap, just so you know I LOVE YOU!

Love is what is lacking in this world. If one sees black, white, Asian, Hispanics, men, women, gay as their own blood, why would you hate or kill?

After all, we do share the same blood, the manking. We share the same land, the earth. Neither we did a good job protecting.
