Today is a day!! (Sobriety)

This is day 7 of no alcohol no bongs for me, after decades of both dailey.
Omg I've lost 16 lbs, and I'm up in the garden at daylight, with tons of energy all day long and doing things instead of servicing my buzz !
I kicked Oxycontin 20 years ago after a 12 year run. So I know I can do this.

AND SO CAN YOU !!!
KEEP COMING BACK.

Props to you acaptainnn acaptainnn - keep it up! Not only are you helping yourself but you are also enriching the lives of all those that love and care about you. Stay strong and keep it up - YOU GOT THIS!!!👊🏼

Aug 23 is my wife's get clean and sober day. 😊
I ordered her this ...

along with about $750 worth of her favorite crystals. I am a knife junkie and she is a rock junkie. 🤣

I’m not one to toot my own horn. But I’ve been trying to get and maintain sobriety since 2014. In and out of treatment centers, countless meetings but today I’m here to tell you that if I can do it so can you. 2 years today we celebrate and I can tell you I wouldn’t change anything over the last 730 days. Thanks to bladeforums and the members and reinvesting in my outdoor hobbies has brought me to today!! Couldn’t have done it on my own so again thank you!! Here’s to many more

Stephen

Congratulations brother!

I just want to say CONGRATS to all who are overcoming the demons.
My old man was a highly functioning alky and although he always took very good care of his family, there were many years of turmoil that took their toil on all of us. I saw him struggle with many steps backwards until he was able to finally overcome his addiction. He eventually somehow found the strength to view them not as defeats, but as opportunities to succeed. Sadly, the associated physical damage took it's toil and he passed at 62, after spending many months lying in a hospital bed with tubes going in and out, depending on Ensure to nourish his now feeble existence. Although it was problematic for a while, I was able to see the writing on the wall and was able to choose a different path. However my sister was not and she passed at 32. She never realized that every time she was throwing that empty bottle away, she was also throwing away part of herself. He never saw his grandkids - she never saw her nieces and nephews. grow beyond the age of six.
I'm relating this not to garner sympathy but to show that what you are overcoming may have the familial effects that may not be apparent.
Anyone who has the courage to face such a monumental challenge head-on, deserves to remember not only the sometimes ill spoken words of disdain from family but to also hear their unspoken words of admiration and love.

Keep on truckin' y'all! I know several alcoholics, some in recovery, some not. It sucks to have a disease, but so does any disease - if you're unlucky and get stuck with it, or MS or epilepsy etc. your choices are to deal with it or not. At least with addiction, dealing with it by keeping sober has tons of mental and general health benefits! But it's hard work and those who can do it are worthy of respect.

Keep coming back- Keep coming back, and don’t smoke that crack!!!

This past week a couple times I had thoughts of drinks and Bongs.
I replaced those with thoughts of all the Benefits I have Achieved by NOT having drinks and Bongs.
I expect those thoughts to CREEP in again in the future, As did the Oxy thoughts sooo many years ago when I kicked it.
I haven't had those in many years.

Keep Coming Back Y'all.
PS, It does help to tell Someone when those Creep into your mind.

Keep it up! You got it.
I hear you, since I quit smoking in January 2nd , 2025 I gained 24 lbs in 7 months. But I would not trade it for anything, health wise I feel better and not mention how much money I saved!

Wish I could loose some LBs, lol. After quitting smoking it keeps going up. I'm up to 42" 255.
