Tony Bose Tribal Spear~New from Case!

2Dead, mine came way more offcenter than yours, pehaps 20/80 or even 10/90. It also had a small scratch on the tip of the blade. I sent it to Case and got it back in perfect condition. Took 2 weeks, including shipping. Case provides great service!

Thanks CK. I contacted Case and they said to send it in and they'll take a look at it.

Here's pics of mine. I'm very pleased with this one. Pics show how nice it is and the blade action is 'just right' too.

Nice one Roland. It's a fairly simple design, but one of the best collaboration knives IMO!

Roland, she's a keeper, for sure. When in hand, can you feel the mini striations in the jigging as shown in your excellent closeup photos?

Guess it pays to not give up. I'd waited too late to get my name on "the list" and about lost hope of finding an Ebony. Came across a dealer who had one today! (Actually, he had 3, which sort of surprised me).
At a fairly decent price too, even more surprising. :D

It's on its way to me now, and my fingers are firmly crossed that it will as nice an example as those pictured here.

Debating right now between an ebony tribal spear vs back pocket. Seem like very similar designs except for the 1/2" extra on the back pocket and a slimmer profiled blade.

Has anyone fondled both? Whats the thickness of the back pocket like in comparison from scale to scale?

pepemrtnz, the BP looks like a decent knife, but the Tribal Spear is one of those exemplary knives that come around only rarely. It's not so much the fit and finish, but the design. get one in your hand and you know right away: "This is special".
The ' 09 Norfolk is also a "special" knife, but to my surprise, i feel my Tribal Spear exceeds my Norfolk. I say "feel" because it's not about thinking, examining every aspect, it's about the "Oh Wow !" i feel when hold these knives.

Tribal Spear is a very nice knife and makes a great user, if your a chicken like me and can't bring yourself to bang up a higher end custom as an edc. The spear has a nice action and pretty good F&F - the blade could have been centered better on mine.

I've had mine for a while now and I'd change 2 things if I could. First, the handle is a little flat. I wish it were just a bit more hand filling and rounded at the edges. Second, aesthetically, I think the bolsters are a bit boxy, and my eye always seems to get hung up in that area when I'm admiring the lines of the knife. The design - by Case I guess, not Tony Bose, because if you look at the Bose model, you'll see the bolsters on his Spear are more rounded - could be tweaked a bit to make the lines of the bolsters more fluid. Other than that, you'll have to laydown another $150 to $200 for a custom something or other, to get not a whole lot more performance. Seems to me the reason to pay up for a custom is mainly for aesthetics, and possibly better heat treat - not sure about that though.

I'm fairly tickled. My Ebony TS arrived today (plus an Ebony Backpocket from another dealer...yeah, I'm a pig!)

I was somewhat worried that coming a little late to the party I might be getting one that had been returned for some reason, but mine appears to be 99.9% perfect. Ebony looks good, nice dark color, no flaws. Blade is perfectly centered. Blade to spine fit is not quite as perfect as Rolands, but it's darn close.
Blade action is firm and positive, no play.

Nice Alann ! I found it very hard to choose between the Antique Bone and the Ebony. I bet the Ebony looks even better in person than in pics.
Maybe post a pic or 2 ?

If I had to choose between the Ebony and that gorgeous Antique Bone you got it would be a HARD choice. I wanted the Ebony to go wiith my other Ebonys, but dang yours is so nice. I'd probably get so frustrated I'd buy both! :D

I'll try and take a couple of pics, but my current camera is somewhat macro challenged.

I'm curious how the edge retention is holding up on these.

I've been carrying and using mine every day for three months, and it is still shaving sharp. Literally. I just shaved some hair from the back of my hand to confirm. I still haven't touched the factory edge, I may give it a light stropping in a couple weeks just to maintain it. I've been using this knife for everything, from food prep to whittling, to cutting bamboo, to breaking down boxes, and anything else I can find an excuse to use the blade for. Performance has been superb.

With the Case/ Bose collaborations, you definitely get what you pay for. 154CM is a great steel, and Case knows how to use it! I find edge retention on 154CM-bladed knives to be excellent, and this one is no exception.

I LOVE my Tribal Spear. I use it as a worry stone, and have gotten quite attached to it. The best part of the knife is the ebony, and how nicely it has broken in. The wood has smoothed into an incredible polish and sheen. It is a beautiful little thing!

I just got my TS in antique bone yesterday- great f & f, extremely sharp, and centered. It's in my pocket as I type this. Great collaboration! Much better than my other Case's.

Just scored an ebony tribal spear off ebay for a great price! It will go nicely with my ebony norfolk :) Can't wait to see what all the fuss is about...
