He was one of the names on my short list, as a matter of fact. Nice to see a second opinion. The 9 pic thread has some great examples, but alot of the time, the crafters aren't credited along with the pics..so I a lot of inquisitions are awaiting reply. I did pm Tommy, though.

Psy- Your sheath making has come leaps and bounds in a ridiculously short time! You are doing REALLY good work man!

Question for you guys. I do not own any firearms. My dad owns a few shotguns and muzzleloaders for hunting and I have been shooting friends guns all my life. I am pretty comfortable with guns (not sure if that makes a difference) I dont live in the best area and want to protect my family. My brother is giving me his pump action 12ga. Just hearing me rack that should be enough to make anyone think twice about entering. I also want to get a CCW. I am looking for an affordable handgun and more importantly affordable ammo. My buddy had a CZ that shot .40 S&W and he never wanted to shoot it because the ammo was too expensive. I know that .22 ammo is really cheap but would that make a good self defense weapon or would it just piss off the person I shot with it enough to tear my arms off.lol

I personally would NOT use a 22 for self defense. I don't think I'd use anything smaller than a 9mm. If it was strictly a CCW I'd probably go with the 9mm or maybe a .380.

It depends where you shoot with the .22. It's not the best SD round because its small but with the right shot placement it'll still take someone down. If you want affordable ammo personally I'd opt for a 380 or a 9mil. Of course I don't have much experience carrying firearms for self defense so take my advise with a grain of salt.

Hmm, stripped the blade on my new BK16 yesterday. I kinda like the look of it. I'm not really sure if I'm going to put a patina on it right away. I guess it'll depend on how it will hold up without a patina...

Will do. My Bday was tuesday (thanks toall you holes for the wishin of many more)

:D

Anyone who says a 22 wont stop someone has clearly never been shot...lol
A 22 might not stop a seriously hardened monster of a criminal, but it will make any normal punk seriously re evaluate what the hell they were doing that got them shot (That is if you didnt head shoot them)
The best gun for Concealed carry is one you dont mind concealing. A 22 is a very very comfy and easy to conceal carry, Aaaaand very easy to keep on target since it has NO felt recoil.
Having said that a .380 is going to hit harder and not be so much bigger than a 22.
I really like that wallet holster, I am seriously considering getting one of those and a 22 lr, or wm or a .380 for my CCW.

I should add, that a great handgun for someone starting out, if your not looking to concealed carry it, is a 357 revolver. you can run 38 cal ammo through it and that stuff is cheap, and then for your home defense rounds you can load special 357 ammo made for home defense. Great all round pistol, even for the woods as an animal defense weapon. Most stuff will be stopped by a 38 or a 357, short of a Large Bear.

Sounds like you want a 9mm. Its the round I would recommend that you can get the least expensive practice ammo for. 9, 40, and 45 would all work well, but ammo for 40 and 45 can get spendy rather quickly. How much are you looking to spend on the gun? There are tons and tons of options out there for sure. Is it going to be something that you will actually carry or more of a home defense gun?

I wouldn't really consider myself a "seriously hardened monster of a criminal" However the .22 (pistol, NOT rifle) didn't hurt that much worse than the .188 copper bb pistol.

I don't want to be hit with either one of them again, and yes it DID hurt, but if I was intent on doing something it wouldn't have stopped me.

Cord wrapping a handle takes a LONG ass time! Just FYI.

(I guess I'm not wearing as much armor as you ..lol, 22 punched holes in me and had to be removed from my muscles where they stopped. It was 22 Long Rifle, though.)

So I have some pulled pork left over from yesterday and trying to come up with something to make. If anyone has some ideas I'm open to any suggestions.

Omelet! TRUST ME!

I think Thorny just called me fat :(

This wasn't the .22LR I was hit with. That probably does make a world of difference.

heading to chimney rock and biltmore estate in NC the weekend after next for some hiking and outdoorsiness. Should be fun, ill snap some photos.
