well hell, i didn't want to get booted the first week i was on here. i was waiting for tony to break the ice, set an example for me.

Look at the raised letters on the short bottles: Edradour. The tiniest distillery in Scotland.

They did some interesting experiments with their single malt years ago ... and now folks are reaping the fruits. Essentially, they placed their single malt in different sorts of used aging barrels for various periods of time so it picked up some additional character. Most of the experiments were successes, but sadly Edradour is so small there never was much of their whisky.

Fortunately, there are OTHER good single malts. You might look for some of the Bruichladdich (Brook-Laddie) -- it is an Islay malt, but it's surprisingly low in peat and iodine. I like it quite a bit.
 
i hear you can still get the first edition if you look around for it. next edition is due mid spring. i would like to try the Bruichladdich that OP's speaking of. maybe we could get tony to go see his liquor store and have a taste for us?
 
here's a picture i took while i was in Jackson hole, wy. i was at the airport buying some av gas and stretching my legs a little bit. looks like i could have walked over and made myself a drink huh. probably not.....

Well, after reading Tony's post ... I'm now VERY thirsty.

That's some nice single malt. I'm torn between that cold filtered Edradour and the Port Charlotte. PC is always good ... but doggone expensive.

I asked about that one and he can't find it.

He said these are as good or better.

He said this one is so good that he bought every bottle in the area. It is the same place that does the Old Masters I sent you...

No I do not have taste. You have taste and the guy at the shop - Gary - has taste. I'm just smart enough to listen. Gary says buy and I buy :o

I did not buy ALL the Mcallans and Murrays but I did get the others.
