ok, i'm back, i need a frinking drink. i got this smith n wesson 44 mag used off gunbroker a while back. the barrel was turned in about 2 degrees to much and i could see it while sighting. sooooo...

i used a barrel wrench and took it off, that was ok, it took about the force of taking off a tight lug nut.

so i cleaned the threads both male and female alike and used some gun oil on both sets of threads and turned the barrel on.

CRAP!!!!!!!

it got to the "almost there" position and STOPPED COLD! it was a bitch getting it back off again and i thought i would have to send the fricking gun back to smith with this stupid wrench still on it!

so i cleaned the threads again and used a special trigger sear grease on the threads and got the bastid on and straight.

drink time and a lesson learned, if you want slick, use grease, not gun oil!

Awesome news Jeremy, I am also off in search of Scotch,as if knives weren't keeping me poor enough.......i hope you guys are happy now ..oh well broke and drunk with knives.....hang on..that doesn't sound too bad after all.

Stainless will gauld when threaded into its self! the oil made it worse, it needs anti-seize or moly grease compound for stainless threads! Titanium and aluminum will do the same!! Stainless the worst!

Yes that's right:thumbup: at Blade West Skunk and I nearly finished a bottle of this stuff by 4:00 A.M. with Vicki (I don't even remember if she was naked:foot passed out on the bed. If Skunk didn't need to sober up to set up the show we would have needed another bottle.

At Blade East even us old guys just sleep every other day. :thumbup:
