Toohr #3 knife sharpener

I've just finished making the dedicated adapter for the Hapstone Scissors module. Having the scissors clamp angled to 25 degrees allows the TooHR to have an average scissors sharpening angle right in the middle of its angle range. I tried every pair of scissors in my house and the angle works perfectly for all of them. Pics below :

How can I get one of those rod parking parts ? I can’t find them anywhere

It's a standard TSProf rod parking hook, with a small piece of plastic attached to it to make it slightly higher. You can buy a TSProf parking adapter and then use double sided tape to attach a small block of plastic or wood to it. That should work well.

If you want to buy exactly what I have in the pic, you can contact Gritomatic to see when they will have stock again.

Ok thanks man. I’ve a bit confused in what clamps I can put on the toohr3 can you tell me what clamps are compatible and If I need any adapters , which ones ?

The TooHR 3 bar has the same diameter as a TSProf K03/Pioneer/Kadet bar, so any of those clamps will work without an adapter.

If you wanted to use other clamps, like Hapstone, then you'd also need a Gritomatic "GearConnect" adapter for it. Link below is an example of one of the adapters to use Hapstone clamps on a TooHR 3 bar.

Thank you so much man I will start looking for a center clamp as those are my favorite I have a hapstone rs center clamp , will that fit with the adapter or is it only for the r2 ?

The RS and R2 clamps have the same bar mount diameter, so either will work.

Hello I just got this sharpener after reading the forum like a week ago. Thank you so much for the information you provided but could you help me with one thing? I want to use an 8-inch stone with the machine. It seems like it's possible if I take out all the springs and the nut and use the red knob as the tensioner, but is there another alternative product or way of using 8-inch stone?

I haven't seen an 8 inch stone being used, but if it's not a heavy, wide stone then it could perhaps be possible.

If it is a big bench stone, I wouldn't recommend it for all knives though as you won't have nearly as much control over accuracy of sharpening, following the curves of a blade and carefully sharpening the tip as you would with a standard 1 inch wide stone.

It's the Venev 200x24x10mm stones which are heavier than regular stones but nowhere near as heavy as a bench stone. I have the sharpener, but stones are on their way.

I thought it could easily go on, but it was just a little tad longer... The six inch stones felt short for something over 10 inch kitchen knives

Any cheap alternatives than K03 expert guide rod and K03 expert stone holder?

I am currently playing around the stone holder, I was able to use the oven to soften the adhesive and pull the rod and make the sharpener accommodate 200mm stones. but would be venev stone design with 160g weight be fine with the toohr 3 stone holder design?

I have some thick spine knives up to 5.5mm so I was planning to upgrade my clamp. I am currently thinking of between KakBritva side clamp vs hapstone r2 clamp. How wide does the r2 clamp jaw open? What are the benefits of undercut KakBritva clamps? If you had to choose, which would be a better choice for me? what are some pros and cons each if you had any?

Which types of R2 clamp are you referring to?

Regarding your knives, it would depend on the geometry, thickness vs width, grind type etc. of the knife, not just the spine thickness. Kakbritva has a lot of variety when it comes to angles and opening size but it also makes them very specific to individual knife grind geometry and certain clamps won't work on certain grinds.

For Kakbritva specifically, I've found the 6mm Flat (no undercut) clamps to be the best all-rounder clamps when it comes to the variety of knives they can securely clamp.

As far as Hapstone clamps are concerned, the best all-rounder clamps are the Hapstone Universal Angled clamps.

All my knives are kitchen knives and mostly convex grinds, and all of them have pretty much flat grinds near the spine.

But the spine thickness of my knives varies from as thick as 5.5mm near the heel to as thin as 1mm near the tip.

Due to the budget issue, I was referring to Hapstone R2 lite but seems like KakBritva would be better choice.

Do you think a 6mm flat pair would be a good choice for me and able to clamp a blade as thin as 1mm? or should I get one each of 4/5mm and 6mm jaw opening clamp?

Can those clamps work with longer stock screws(50mm) or Thumbscrew M5x30? I Couldn't find the hole size for Kakbritva or the compatibility of Thumbscrew M5x30 with Kakbritva.

I was also trying to look for the sharpening rod parker for toohr3 that I saw on this thread, but is it still not available?

In your case with the knives you have, I would recommend getting one 6mm flat and perhaps one 3 degree undercut clamp. With those two clamps, I think you should be able to cover all your needs.

For the parking adapter, you'll have to check with Gritomatic directly to see when they will have stock.

The Kakbritva clamps have M6 threads, and longer thumbscrews are fine in them as the hole goes right through the back of the clamp.
