Name the top 3 production folders, with a MSRP under $200, based on combined functionality, utility, materials used, fit and finish. Identify which of them you own(ed).

In no order:

Buck/Strider Large Spearpoint (rock solid!)
Spyderco Endura (utility and value)
Benchmade AFCK (great lock, great feel, and awesome design)

If the price limit wasn't there, I would have to include the Buck/Mayo.

BTW, I own them all. :D

Al Mar SERE 2000 (own 2 of 'em).
Al Mar Nomad (owned 1, but traded it away yesyerday).
Spyderco SS SE Police model (own 1 of 'em).

Benchmade 94* series, the Cuda Max and the MT LCC. I've owned all three and they're all outstanding knives including exceeding quality and design of many mid-range customs.

MAy I suggest the following:
- William Henry CF (e.g. Lancet), light, sharp and very well made
- Al Mar Sere 2000, the thing is a tank...
- MT LCC MA, high cool factor and functional as well...

Needless to say I own them all :)

Cheers,

DUCky

Buck 110 - It is rugged, functional and a great value. I have owned one for most of my life.

Spyderco Military - Light weight, great materials and an excellent blade shape for utility purposes. I have owned two. Don't have one now, but will be getting a Paramilitary as soon as they become available.

Buck Strider - Owned the BG42 tanto, but sold it. This was a rugged knife that was made from excellent materials. This was my first tanto and I didn't care for it. I would choose the spear point if I were to get another of these knives. I also was not fond of the very abrasive handle. This problem has been solved in the latest version of this knife.

In no particular order:
Spyderco Military
Camillus Talonite EDC
Buck Mayo TNT
Benchmade Mini AFCK (honorable mention)
CRKT M16-03Z (honorable mention)
May have exceeded MSRP on one or two. Bummer.

Top three...three pieces that put together style, technology, versatility, and utility in one neat package...

1. Syderco Police Model; Any style/type. With the hole, mean serrations, and rock solid lockup, the SPM set the standard for YEARS for large folding knives. The MILITARY is good too, but I do not the linerless setup.

2. BM 710 Axis lock. Although I find my 705 a little easier to have as an EDC, the 710 is big, strong, and sharp. The Axis lock was a MAJOR step forward in pocketknife/folder tech, and has been adopted by other manufactures since.

3. Microtech....Now, I have owned a bunch, all manual, and I have had VERY good luck. The LCC in MA is AWESOME and remains one of my all times fav's behind only a custom Stryker, and the CF Police Model. BUT: It's big and bulky for EDC, and after a year of on and off carry...it got loose! Now, the Socom Series has held a sweet spot ever since I bought my first MT Socom in Tanto config some years ago. I was able to by it for LESS THAN $200, and I got a Chris Reeve in trade shortly thereafter!!! The knife (MT) was great, and my buddy and I have kept at least two "worker-bee's" by MT in our collection ever since.

R/SLD in WA

Microtech

- SOCOM MA, mini-SOCOM MA, Amphibian MA, Kestral MA, and LCC MA

Kershaw

- Random Task, Double Duty, Double Cross, Boa, Ricochet, Blackout, Avalanche, and Blur

Spyderco

- Jess Horn Lightweight, Mike Walker Lightweight, Black Hawk, Endura, Delica, Tim Zowada, and Native

Tough question. My three would be:

SERE 2000

Microtech LCC

Blade-Tech pro hunter in carbon fiber.

Spyderco Military
Spyderco Chinook
Benchmade AFCK

...interesting how knives with linerlocks are defamed on the forums but are mentioned as being some of the top production knives.

Here are my votes for the top 3 prod. folders today.

SERE2K
BM800 AFCK also the mini should be included.
Buck/Strider-have the mini and am going to figure out a way to the large spear point. Even more rugged than the SERE just not as highly finished. Keep'em sharp

Spyderco Endura/Delica/Calypso Jr. These are all very similair so I will group them together. They are an excellent value, have superb quality, and are made of some of the best blade steels.

Spyderco Military - For all the same reasons as above, but more pricey.

Victorinox - Amazing fit and finish for such a cheap knife. They are also highly useful for many tasks.

IMO. . .

MT SOCOM MA Clip Point CE. I've got it's DA brother as well.
Spyderco Endura II SS CE. Great for the price.
BM Striker 910 CE. Great blade-to-handle ratio.

mentionable. . .

MT LCC MA. Handled one but haven't bought one yet.
CS Vaquero Grande. Lighter, smaller and quieter than a chain saw. Damn scary looking.
Spyderco Civilian. see CS Vaquero Grande.

Another vote for the Microtech LCC MA, awesome knife. It actually displaced my Strider GB as my large EDC.
Microtech SOCOM Elite, another great user and all around awesome knife.
Benchmade 710, great solid knife also.

Spyderco Military
Spyderco G10 Native
Spyderco Starmate
I own them all,the Military is tops.
For under 50.00 it doesn't get any better than a FRN Native in S30V.

Benchmade 42. Strongest lock made. Useful profile. A very useful knife that streets for about $120.

Benchmade 31. Strongest lock made. Useful profile. Smaller, pocketable size. Removable pocket clip. Unfortunately, just recently discontinued. Get 'em while you still can.

Benchmade AFCK. It's only got one handle, but it's still a very strong knife and very useful.

the ones I use the most
benchmade mini afck in M2 I love this knife
microtech LCC
spyderco calypso or native with serrated edge
I find a combination of two of these knives handle any knife cutting chore I can come up against.

Camillus Cuda Maxx, in the clip point bowie version.

Benchmade 710HS

Buck/Strider 880sp
