I'm going to lay this project to rest but I thought it would be interesting to show you just a couple more shots on a new thread as the other one is huge.

Here is the exploded picture of all the parts laid out and the assisted opener system. If it looks like somebody elses system it is purely accidental.

Thanks go to all my forum friends that have followed this project and all the swell comments and compliments along the way.

Bruce, that's mean! When I read the thread title, I thought you test fired it and it blew up!

The exploded view is fun to look at though :)

Man, if I wasn't sure you were human, I'd pray to you.

Bruce, So your calling this one the Turtle? One of the few Spanish words I think I know. The others I can't say. :D I bet when you were born the first gift you received was a puzzle. If I didn't know you I'd think no way the Bump could make a thing like this. I sure hope you bring this piece to Eugene. I'd charge 5 bucks to let people examine it. Fantastic and Amazing all rolled into one!

This is mind blowing, I'm lost trying to figure out what goes where. This level of skill is too far from me that I cannot understand the use of some parts :grumpy:. This is porn :o...

Bruce that weapon has too many parts for assembley, I bet you can take it apart and assemble it in the dark. My only complaint is to clean up the checkered ivory grips prior to shipping it to me:D

Hell that is what I was thinking too!!

Bruce, your work is truly astounding! I feel like I am cheating on my wife looking at that thing!!! Rock on Bruce.

I've got a question regarding the springs for the assisted opener.

Are there 2 springs on that rod, one inside the other?
Don't they bind up with each other?
Why two and not just one?

What is the finished weight of this piece?

Good eye Steven. I have the variety pack of coil springs that Brownells sells. There isnt one with the correct inside diameter to fit snuggly around the rod and still have enough spring action (power) to open this blade. I finally had the idea to install an inner and outer. The inner adds power and keeps the outside spring from deforming when compressed also. Very snappy action now.

Finished wieght? No idea. Its a handful of steel and ivory for sure. It wouldnt hurt to drill some lightening holes or skeletonize the next one but heck I sell these by the pound.

Your portfolio of masterworks just keeps growing, Bruce. What a beautiful piece!

Could you remind me who did the engraving? Was it Tom? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks much guys!

Yep, Tom Ferry engraved it. He has only been engraving for 6 years. What a talent he has in everything he does.

I agree, Tom is highly skilled, and has a great dedication to continually improve his skillset. Nice guy, to boot!
