Very nice my good man! You never said you ordered one! Whats the specs, cmon, give it!

edited to add: ...It looks thinner, or sleeker than mine. Is the blade / handle longer or something or is it a eyeball trick?

Yes Yes lay out the details my man. I am going to have one of these on order and I want all the info I can get. Thanks and that is an AWESOME looking blade.

Oh yeah, I've got one on the blocks! ;)

Here are the specs from Peter and mine is right on with them except the handle is sized to my hand and the balance point is even, like Gundy's :) I guess it's just the photo Gundy or possibly a bit larger handle?
"The standard Evolution Survival (as pictured) is $375us. (delivered)
Specs: 6.5" long ATS34 blade 1/4" thick chisel ground (left or right handed) with differential heat treatment, full tang with micarta handle slabs and stainless bolt fasteners all with TacBlast finish. Kydex belt sheath with accessory pouch. Availability is custom order only at this stage ,delivery is 8-10 weeks at this time. I do have other models and variations (including larger and smaller models) however they are still being prototyped..... is there anything in
particular you had in mind?? as i am always happy to customize."

Can't wait to have it in hand and put it to use! I'll get the other pics of the EVO coming along and post if anyone wants to see the progress of the knife from bar stock. I may be crazy but it helps keep the anticipation/desire in check getting to watch my knife come to life... :D

Peter did the pic thing with me too...here is my EVO just before she went to heat treat...so young, still a virgin....brings a tear to my eye...*sniff*...;)

I do not know of any other maker that does this sort of thing...it's all good!

I agree on the pic's! It is nice!

Shame the controversy has arisen. I was hoping to see more come of the design since I like it and camp/climb most weekends to put it to use, although I doubt I'll ever need it to survive. I'm glad all these other knives have kept people alive for extended periods of time though  I found the 1st knife of this design through contacts with the tracker school (The Tops one which they promoted & I ordered) and now read here about this being a movie knife only and blah blah blah but we respect Beck, Tops, and Tom Brown. But if they (Tom Brown and Dave Beck) just put in years designing and testing a movie knife, why are these same folks saying they respect them? I'm missing something I guess because it sounds contradictory to me?

Anyway before I get long winded or to political ;)... I'm looking forward to the EVO and it has been a pleasure working with Mr. Jensen through this process!

It is a shame that this controversy has arrisen.

I like Tom Browns ethics, books (even have a couple signed by him) and skills as an outdoorsman.

I like Dave Becks knife designs, principles and sort of feel a bit peeved how this has gone for him.

I can not comment on TOPS as I have never owned one of their products. They sort of do not interest me. The TOPS Tracker would have been the first if I was able to get it through customs.

Still, I own an EVO and life is good down here...

Nuff said eh :) Nice picture of yours in the other post by the way!

Tom Browns books were recommended reading for the Scouts back in my childhood days. I bought a couple of his books to read again before I got the knife and am looking forward to feeling the inspiration I remember feeling years ago!

I agree on the Beck situation and his work. I was looking forward to seeing his version and possibly owning one. Well, it would've technically been my wife's since she didn't want me having two of the same design without her having at least one first, but she would've let me use it... a little :) I guess I should be glad no one is knocking Mr. Criswell on his swords being a copy of the Japanese tanto and saying he can't make them anymore... as it has provided me with many fun evenings and big smiles practicing/playing with it!

As for the Tops version... it is a well put together knife. I may have a report for all compared to the EVO if I decide to test it and sell at a loss afterwards instead of with a little kydex scuff only (I and my wife passed on keeping it)? We'll see, but from pictures alone I'm not to optimistic there will be much competition with the EVO.
That's a kicker with your customs down under! Can you get tomahawks there? If you haven't seen them, the Lonnie Hansen hawk pictures are NICE! :D

The EVO reminds me a little of this old timer. It looks like a fun knife.

The EVO is a 'fun' design 2sharp....good way to put it. But like a good woman, ytou need to hold it to appreciate it. :)

That pic sure is an oldie! Goes to show that the design principles have been around long ago.

This is what my brother and I did with our 4.00 dlls machete...

I know that it is not a good quality knife but it can do the job...

Roloss, I would honestly wonder how well it would do it...;)

It probably could do 'the job' you know, but to what level would be the question.

Give her hell and report back to us how it went!

That came out allright. Were you being chased by a crazy geriatric ex-instructor bent on killing you, when you made that? It looks kinda familiar. :D
 :p

LOL!:D

I can not comment too much because the movie is not shown here until may...but was it really that far out?

Here are the specs for the Beck WSF "Tracker Knife"

Survival Knife Features

Blade: 1/4" x 6 1/4" Starret 01 high carbon tool steel, differentially hardened and selectively tempered for outstanding performance, unmatched by any imitation. Each cutting edge has been tempered to a different degree of hardness to compliment its use. With the back left soft to add resiliency and just enough blade flex as to resist breakage under extreme stress. The blades then receive a lengthy wet sanding to 1000 grit. Next, they are hand polished, gun blued, and gently rubbed to a very unique and eye catching pearl-like deep dark grey finish as pictured. Other finishes available are satin and blued satin. Prices vary depending on chosen finish.

2" Flat Ground Double-Sided Chisel Edge : For general carving and drawknife use. Please note pre-1999 models were all hollow ground but currently the knives will feature an improved flat grind for greater strength with chisel-like performance.

Hook: 1/2" radius hook for specialized tool making and to recess the more delicate chisel edge safely away from the hatchet portion to ensure protection during chopping.

Hatchet Edge: This 3 3/4" portion is flat ground for chopping and splitting and has been tempered slightly softer than the chisel edge for resistance to chipping.

Point: Re-enforced diamond shaped point for deep penetration and added strength.

2 3/4" Wood Saw: Staggered, self-cleaning, hand-cut saw teeth will aggressively cut the full thickness of the blade as deep as you need. Used primarily for making traps.

4" Radius Back: Provides a safe location to strike with a stick while driving the hatchet edge deep for splitting wood. Rounded off for a comfortable hand holding position when using the hatchet edge as a scraping tool. This section, which runs along the tang, has been left soft to better absorb stress and resist blade breakage.

Fully Tapered Tang: This feature lessens and redistributes the weight of the knife to the hatchet edge to produce greater momentum and deeper penetration while chopping. The butt has been hard spring-tempered to resist peening if dropped or struck.

Handle: Made from nearly indestructible black or olive/black (your choice) linen Micarta. (Additional handle materials available upon request.) It is skillfully contoured to provide an ergonomically correct fit for the average sized human hand for a more positive fit and feel. The rearmost handhold position allows more point weight for greater hatchet use performance, while the forward gripping position provides better center balance for improved control while carving. Handles are secured in place with epoxy and permanently bolted using stainless steel bolts and brass nuts. Guaranteed never to loosen even under the most severe use. A brass-lined lanyard hole is added in the butt.

BECK Stamp: The mark of authenticity to distinguish this as the original hand-made BECK knife.

Sheath: A custom, hand-fitted, friction-type, side carry sheath with generous belt loop, crafted of heavy, chestnut brown English bridle leather for long wear. Specify right or left hand when ordering.

Overall Length = 12 1/4” Weighs 1lb 12oz w/ Sheath

Hope this helps
