My opinion, nothing more. I am writing this using generalities as examples of what we've seen over the last few years, with emphasis on the last year alone.
Just saw the "delete my account" thread by Laurin.....serious? because of this thread and my $25 credit request. I did not mean for this. Did I went over the line? Sorry...
Ideally, a thread in this section is typically the last resort. Tis is when communication fails, and the person has waited a reasonable amount of time for a response and it has done unanswered or largely ignored. Everyone is different and defines "reasonable" very differently. Some people think that a 30 minute window for response is adequate, others think a week, or 2 weeks is adequate. Not everyone has a smartphone with email, or works with access to a computer, or has immediate access to email. This is a fact. What we want to happen is for parties involved to make every effort to resolve matters on their own first, before bringing it here. We're not specifically here (mods) to babysit every transaction. Adults should be able to conduct transactions without intervention from us at every turn, as has happened in other instances.
What I've noticed in some cases, a person has used mod intervention as a threat in order to obtain something from the other person, this is not the best way to deal with issues like this. This is a good way to get yourself ignored quickly. We don't want folks to be bullied or pressured into anything, it's not what BF is about. First and foremost, this is a community, not ebay; and we will keep it that way as long as we are able.
Nope. it is important that the rest of the members know about issues with transactions so that we can make informed decisions about who we buy from/sell to. You did the forum a service. Don't let his "flounce" bother you.
I agree for the most part. The caveat to this is that 9 times out of 10, some pretty important details are left out. Facts that can assist in resolving matters. Why are they left out? Who knows, but they are, time and again not just me, but other mods as well see this. So who is in a position to accurately determine what is an issue and what is not?
It's also common to see new folks jump to conclusions, not knowing posting history or anything else of the parties involved. There are some very thin skinned, hyper sensitive types around and cannot seem to handle any sort of problems on their own without calling for assistance. In the case of this thread, we don't know a lot of details about the transaction, I suspect a lot was left out. The other person chose to simply take their ball and go home as a result. It happens, and we move on.
