-Traded knives
-Knife I recieved is BENT
-USER IS REFUSING TO Reverse Trade.
-User = KillTeamTRS / EOD13

-After posting the user reversed his position.

Hi,

I recently traded a Spyderco Endura (Black FRN) for a Cold Steel Spartan. The Spartan Came in (Has been here 24-48 hrs). I looked at it and set it on the table. A buddy came over and looked at it and pointed out the tip. The tip of the Knife is bent.

As soon as I realized the tip had a bend in it I contacted the User that I traded with that I would like to reverse the trade as the Item I received was NOT as described.

The User at this point is REFUSING to return my knife. Claiming too bad and buyers remorse. I would not be remorseful had the user been truthful in describing the knife.

Mods what do I do at this point?

The forum rules are clear: no trade is complete until both parties are satisfied. If one side is unhappy with the trade--for any reason--it is the responsibility of the other party to oblige the requested trade reversal. Of course, you cannot force somebody to honor the forum's rules. I'm sure one of the mods will try to help you resolve the issue with this person though.

I'm not going to watch a 2 minute movie, I suspect many won't. Why don't you just post a picture of the knife blade next to that straight ruler?

If the user refuses to reverse the trade, in theory and after due process whatever that would be, could they be banned from the forum?

Post a picture of the bent tip to see how bad it is. If it took your buddy to notice it and you didn't notice it until he pointed it out then it is probably pretty minor.

I have straightened bent tips on several used knives and you couldn't tell afterwards. One of them was a folder with stainless 440c blade I received in trade. I just used a small ball pein hammer and with gentle tapping on the bent part of the blade tip maintaining downward pressure on the tip I was able to straighten it without snapping the blade. On a folder you need to hold the blade in the middle of the blade so as to make sure you are not putting any pressure whatsoever on the blade pivot. I used the back of a bench vise to hammer against. It sounds more complicated than it is.

As far as mail fraud since he did ship you the agreed upon knife in a trade don't even waste your time going to the Post Office.

After you post the picture if it isn't too bad you might even get some trade offers on it.

I see 2 used knives, both show signs of wear, both laround the $50 range. In my opinion, this is much ado about nothing, and borders on nitpicking nothingness. Just my opinion, I don't expect Hinderer quality for a used $50 knife. Mentioning mail fraud is also ridiculous, there was no fraud, you got the knife delivered to you. If there is an issue, it is common sense to ask for as many pictures as you need to complete the deal to your liking, right?

I apologize for anything that didnt make it here... Most of the discussion is currently here:

Most people are saying that if anything it would be a manufacturing error. I have emailed him several times (the first 15 minutes after his threats) stating that I would reverse the trade because I dont need the hassle. It was described accurately, and after having the knife for 2 days with no problem, something shouldnt magically happen to say that it was my fault. I dont need the aggravation this time of year over a cheap Cold Steel knife. Honestly he traded for a cold steel knife, and the quality of them is what they are. They often have flaws, but I did not see anything wrong with it, and even if you pause the video I dont see anything wrong with it.... I dont care anymore and agreed to reverse the trade and he hasnt gotten back to me. A multitude of people say that I shouldnt, but what do I care? In the long run I'm out 10 bucks for shipping.

Feel free to click the link and read the other comments.

This is where I am at. I recieved a knife that I am UNHAPPY with in trade. I would like for the trade to be reversed. As per forum rules this is how this should be handled. This is not how it is being handled. I'm not stirring this out of nothing. I just want it reversed.

KillteamTRS shipped fast and up until I said I wanted a reversal was a nice guy. So am I in the wrong? Am I to expect to receive a knife in this fashion and not reverse the trade? I just want it put back to where it was before this happened.

Scotty

I to am out 10 in shipping.

Yup, if one party is unhappy the deal should be undone.

there is no need for a reason, unhappiness is enough................
Of course one can refuse and end up knee deep in horse crap over a knife, its what usually happens...................

Darned if i can tell if it's bent by the posted video.
And i deal with bent knives all the time (khukuri, get it...;))
It would probably help if you posted clear and concise Pictures.

That being said, yes, if one party is unhappy with the trade, it should be undone. Reputations notwithstanding.

I agreed to reverse the trade last night and he finally got back to me.... Please check out the JD thread as well if you wish. All this over a CS knife....

Why tap the blade on the metal table during the video as the person complains about what looks like a minor factory grind issue? I don't get why such a big deal needs to be made but yes just reverse the deal and walk away.

It looks fine to me also.I think youll regret the reversal actually.

Honestly I don't care at this point. I agreed to send it back and he's getting what he wanted while ruining his own rep. It didn't look bent to me or any of the people in the jerzeedevil either. they said if anything it was a flaw in the grind which would be a manufacturing error which can happen. Its a CS knife after all not a custom strider.....

Was this trade finalised through Blade forums or Jerzeedevil ? If it was not made through BFC coming here to fling mud was not needed or particularly sound. Going to JD to do the same thing is not cool at all either...........

It was via bladeforums. However the user also linked to JD. Both sites where involved. Primarily BF.

The user has stated he will reverse the trade. This is all I wanted.

Mods feel free to lock pending outcome.

I stated that I would reverse the trade before any of these threads were posted. I am still awaiting an email from him telling me that he shipped it, as we agreed that if he shipped this morning or early enough in the afternoon and sent me a tracking number that I would ship back. Here I am at 1430 and I still haven't heard anything, but apparently he can sling some more mud at me during his free time... 2 days after I said I would reverse the trade, and no positive action has been taken by him. The only actions were to try to ruin my rep.

I'll let all of you decide what the issue is here, but having a knife for 2 days LEAVING ME POSITIVE FEEDBACK telling me that the knife came and that he was happy with it, and then magically having an issue with it 2 days after receiving? I hate to break it to you guys, but I don't warranty knives that I didn't make, and NO ONE warranties knives for misuse and abuse. If he didn't like the knife he was trading for, he should have been more informed before the trade that the cold steel knife wasn't for him. I wasn't offering a free test ride of it for his pleasure. And he should be more than happy I agreed to reverse the trade ON HIS TERMS in the first place after he dragged MY knife on a metal table and caused much unneeded aggravation and unrest not only here but in a forum that had absolutely nothing to do with this trade. And in the end, I'm not even getting the knife back in the same condition at all, now am I???

How many of you out there would reverse a trade on a knife after the other person in the trade decided to test drive it? If I can remember correctly, if the trade is reversed, the knife should be in the exact condition received. For example, If I traded a Strider out for it and he tried it out and after TWO days decided it wasn't for him, am I still expected to honor the "until both sides are happy" line. If you would say yes to that, feel free to send me any of your LE or super rare gold class Benchmades or LE Striders and I'll baton them through some wood and tell you I don't like it and want a full refund a week later.

I'll let you decide with this one even though I agreed to reverse it.
