Recently I did a trade with another forumite. When he recieved the knife from me he said it was not what he expected and did't want to do the trade. I e mailed him and said fine, send it back with proper shipping. Today I recieved a package, expecting the knife back, I opened the box to find only tightly packed shredded paper and photos of the knife I was trading for along with a note saying he was sorry for the no trade etc and telling me about the photos,NO KNIFE, nothing was said about my knife. I e mailed and asked where the knife was and he swore he sent it. The package was not tampered with in any way so I know it wasn't stolen. He offered quickly to pay me what he thought was a fair market price for the knife, about half of what it goes for on the a reasonably priced site. He said I was lucky to get that and to take it or nothing. Does anyone else smell a rat? I'd like some input.

He don't know you very well do he Jake? :D

Sounds like a blowjob to me. Or is that snow job? But what can you do really? A jerk like that probably won't own up to his wrongdoing unless he says it while you leasurely prepare to hang him upside down by his privates. Press the issue by taking the package to the post office and explaining what happened. Ask the clerk to determine the original shipping weight of the package (as stated on the postage sticker). And have them weigh the box with all it's contents and see if there's a knife's worth of difference. Then offer to press charges on the little putz if he won't ante up and make it right. Mail fraud is a serious offence and his name is on the package. Open and shut case unless I miss my guess Jake old buddy. You won't have a problem wiht him once he can see himself behind bars over a knife he wants to screw you out of. Good luck.

Guys to be fair I think I'll give him a day or so to respond, then I'll name him here. I already told him I'd go to a postal inspector if he didn't make it right.

You mat smell something, but I don't think it is a rat. This guy sounds like a piece of crap to me. Maybe he will make things right so that I can apologize, but somehow I think the only reason that he will make it right, if he does, is because of the threat of possible legal action and having his name spread all over this forum. Well, if that's what it takes, go to it. I have no sympathy for this kind of garbage.

Having been "knighted" and "ordained" as a PUNK, let me just take this moment to inform you that YOU sir, are the victim of a REAL PUNK.
US "PUNKS" back out on deals UNTIL we are EDUCATED about the appropriate Etiquette of the "knife exchange". Then we NEVER do it again. I guess that makes me a PUNK-ETTE.
In the case you cite, this appears to be a TRUE PUNK JOB performed by a REAL hardcore PUNK. No one I would invite to join the Punk-ettes, this formite is a serious phucking scumbag.
POST his Nombre Jake. NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT. This smells like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck, JAKE, this IS A RAT!!!!!

What an excellent freakin' idea!! I've never heard that before but it sounds like a great way to find out what really happened in situations like this. Good thinking Max. My hat's off to you.

Oh, and I think people who rip forumites off should find out the hard way what these knives were made to do.

Thanks Oblongata. It came to me in a waking dream. Plus, I was on the caffiene too! He he. I forgot to mention that there's a very good possibility if the post office clerk recognizes the resutls of the weighing (if they have a brain) then the possibility to dicide whether or not to press charges may be taken out of your hands Jake old buddy. That shipping container and it's contents will most likely become the property of the Post Office right then and there. I don't think the post office really cares one way or another if you WANT to press charges or not. After all, mail fraud is their baliwick, not yours. I don't know that for a fact but it will be interesting to see what happens if you go that route. Personally, I think you should bust his balls and teach him one of life's lessons.

On the other hand, it depends on what state this fellow lives in, what kind of knife it was and how old this 'RAT' is. If you see what I mean. I'd weigh all the facts and variables before getting the law involved. The better way might be to take the fellow out drinking and buy him lots of beers. Then, when he's nice and drunk take him out back and stomp the beer back out of him. Oh, and wear your 'Mr. Rogers' costume so no one can finger you. :D

I think I spoil Mr. Evans fun. It is ME that he started this thread on. Yes I entered into a trade with Jake, but when I got the knife it wasn't what I expected. I put up a Buck 110 that had been done over, instead of the usual wood handles they were replaced with nickle/silver with two different reliefs, one side had Mt. Rushmore the other has Black Hills Strugus Cycle rally "85". Anyway thats irrelevant now. He told me the knife was perfect, true it was never used, he said it had positve lock, out of 15 openings it locked 6 or 7 times, the handles were plastic. The only thing Laguiole about the knife was the name on the blade. It had none of the Laguiole marks, the bull, the honey bee blade stay, or the rivits forming a sheperds cross. I e'd Mr Evans saying I was not happy with the knife and was sending it back. I know what I sent Mr Evans, and the knife was in the box, not just some shredded paper and some snap shots of the buck. Why did I offer to pay for the knife when I don't even have it? I haven't a clue, especially when I DON'T HAVE IT, I KNOW I SENT IT BACK! But then we're back to this problem his word against mine and mine against his. Why would I keep something I didn't want or have no use for? I do know the consequences of fraud, so why would I commit it? Why would choose to lose everthing I've worked for over a cheap knife? So Mr. Evans at this point, I know the knife was in the box when I sent it, why its not there for you is beyond me. My original offer to pay for it ( and again I have no idea why) still stands. As for the rest of you jerk bait who just couldn't wait to spew out inuendos and slander, I really don't give a rats behind what you think. I KNOW I SENT MR. EVANS HIS CHEAP PEICE OF PLASTIC BACK. So Jake its up to you either except my offer, which I think is rather generous considering I don't even have your knife cause I know I sent it back, or do what you think you have to do, cause I'm not going no where.

admit to nothing, denie everything, make counter accusations

Er, before you go any further with this ganjakid, you might want to change your signature.

Thanks for the advice Burke, but my signature has nothing to do with this. I KNOW HOW TO TELL THE TRUTH. Whether people believe me or not, I know what I sent and what I said

You are right ganjakid, it is your word against Jake's. The problem is that Jake's word means a lot around here. It will be easy enough for Jake to find out if there was something else in that box when you sent it. As has been stated before, if he takes it to the P.O. and has it weighed, they will be able to tell if something went missing in transit.

Ganjakid, I do respect the fact that you came here to defend yourself. I don't think I've ever been called jerk bait before, but I've been called worse so I will get over it.

Well Max, your idea didn't work, I just got back from the post office and was told the package was in the range for normal priority pricing and thats all they could tell me. So Kevin Edwards aka ganjakid I can't get you that way you scamming SOB. I should have suspected something when I sent a confirmation number and you didn't respond with one from your end. Now you want to say crap about the knife for a smoke screen.Sure weird that you offered to pay a cheaper price almost instantly when I called you on the deception too. All this might seem a little more believable if you had sent the knife you were trading and then backed out. SO GUYS, DON'T DEAL WITH THIS SCAMMING SOB Its too bad that after roughly 200 good trades, deals and sales through BFC I have to say this about a fellow forumite. I'll post if this jerk makes it right, but I have a feeling I've been had.

You know what jake, after that little message you just sent, calling me a scamming SOB (I know who my parents are, do you know yours). I have seen the light!!! I was not creating a smoke screen, nor were my intentions to scam anyone, I was out for an honest trade, but evidently you you wouldn't know honest if it hit you in the head. AS FOR MY OFFER TO PAY YOU FOR THE KNIFE, ITS OFF, AS I CAN'T SEE PAYING FOR SOMETHING I DON'T HAVE AND I KNOW DAMN WELL I SENT BACK

Well, I do know an empty box when I open it. How does it feel to know your litle scam cost you all your credability here on BFC?

The weight of the package is not on the postage stamp on the package, but the receipt given to the sender of the package does have the weight and the zip code the package was sent to on it.

I waited UNTIL I pissed out all the coffee I HAVE been drinking. I also stopped popping them "Black Beauties";) ;) :p ;)
YO, Ganja!!!! Listen. Jake Evans has been here for quite some time. I KNOW this man to be a MAN of absolute INTEGRITY. DO NOT read anything in this POST son, there is NOTHING here.
Jake Evans does NOT need to scam YOU, ME or anyone else. Furthermore, he comes from great stock, that's the ONLY way a MAN like Jake could have grown from childhood into the FINE GENTLEMAN that he is. DO NOT sling crap about Jake's upbringing. That furthers one belief that "he who PROTESTS the LOUDEST", Understand?

So, you two have a dilemna. In the OLD days you could Duel. I bet someone has a pair of REAL Dueling Pistols (DUH) Or, even just meet somewhere and settle this mano E Mano. You know Ganja, just kick the sh*T out of each other and who ever wins IS RIGHT?????

NO, That does not work. You SAY you put the knife in the package. Jake says the package arrived EMPTY and appeared NOT to have been tampered with. If you continue to sling crap about Jake the person, sides will be taken and YOU Ganja will lose. But YOU DO NOT CARE, Correct?

So, if you do not care, I have an offer. I will set-up a POLYGRAPH test, to be conducted in YOUR HOME STATE. ALL at my expense. You can EVEN pick the CERTIFIED Person of YOUR CHOICE to adminster the test. Let the chips fall where they may. It won't cost you a dime and I will EVEN pay for your TIME. Hell, I will even pay for Jake's knife.

But the TRUTH needs to be known. This is a GREAT way to do it. It is and always has been my FIRM belief that an INNOCENT PERSON never hesitates to PROVE his INNOCENCE. So, lets do it.....Ira J. Migdal

LIKE I SAID I DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS WHAT YOU'VE JUST DONE TO MY CREDIBILITY, OR EVEN WHAT THESE SO CALLED FORMITES THINK. I'm reminded of an old Jackson Five lyric "one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch", but jake you make this whole barrel stink. So I'll stop trying to defend myself, even though I know I'm right regaurdless of what you have to say. Personally, I think your po'd cause you could'nt scam me out of collectors piece for a cheap peice of plastic. yes my offer to pay you for the knife was rather rapid, but I though I was doing the right thing even though I don't HAVE THE DAMN THING CAUSE I SENT IT BACK. as for the weight being on the recipte, its not. AS FAR AS THIS MATTER IS CONCERNED, ITS CLOSED
