Very nice Laguiole!! Obviously not Brazilian Rosewood, I wonder what species that beautiful wood actually is??A 12 cm Laguiole, with rosewood scales made by Pierre-Yves Joyeux.

Stefan, your still photography is as exquisite and interesting as your videography. Always something interesting to “feast your eyes“ on. Please keep up the fine work. Your attention to detail, camera movement, and editing on your YT channel are greatly appreciated. Bravo!Fontenille Pataud, Le Thiers Nature

What a magnificent collection you have, Stefan! And I love your videos. This photo is simply superb. And making me hungry (I am sipping some wine, though)!Manu Laplace, 1515

If looking for a seahorse, be sure to get an Arthaud (the original family), not Arto (the transferee who killed the shop). Not an easy task.Managed to take a decent photo this morning.

Some mild pitting, but that is of no consequence. What is important is the full blade, which looks to have never touched a stone.
Will Power described these old Davids as rustic in build and I agree wholeheartedly. They were made before the laguiole's renaissance, a humble knife for unassuming people. This is a working tool through and through.
I like it. I'll be on the hunt for more of these old knives and will one day add a nightingale and a seahorse to the bunch.
Thanks The Zieg and Will Power, and that's a mighty hefty blade on the fine old Le Sabot as well.
Chui, I love the style and handle on your Londie, and interesting paperwork to accompany it.
Here is an early post WWII Yatagan model with a Pradel blade stamp. Some very nice multi-colored horn on this old fellow.
I think a gendarme would have been proud to carry this knife.

The full name is Arthaud-Chosson. They have an "old" flavor, etching is deep, seahorse smaller, they often use pre-12C27 440 steel. How do you distinguish between Arthaud and ArtoJolipapa ? What markings should I be looking for?
