Beautiful! As an avid paleontologist who dabbles in astronomy, the materials and the name of this knife are really spot on.

Beautiful, Gary! You have some excellent taste in Opinels. I keep meaning to make my own version of a slim #10 that you made into a wharncliffe.. I even saved one of your photos of it!

Thanks, that one just arrived today it’s a #10 with maple wood handle and a Japanese san mai blade with a reported Rockwell hardness of 63
They don’t give these away as it was a very special run. The handle being larger makes it work better in hand than the smaller ones so I don’t feel the need to flatten the sides
The blade arrived wicked sharp and very thin behind the edge, it is a saber ground blade that provides the texture but overall still quite thin
