Traditional French Fry day

I do not think it is "Arrogance" to suggest a book be published in English, but just including the major English speaking countries you increase your potential market by almost 470 million people. Most of those countries have more people who have disposal income, and who collector or are interested in knives. Outside of France and French speaking Canada, which major French speaking countries, many of them in Africa, are interested in knives and have disposable income to buy the books? John

Can't remember if I've posted this one here yet or not. I appreciate some of the wilder handle options of French knives. This one is camel bone

Here you can see a bit of just how good the fit and finish is on these knives, which is typical in my experience

E ErikMB : If there had been the slightest chance to make a penny dealing with USA for knives, believe that Thiers people would not have left the business slip away! 😊

A good friend encouraged Annsi Ruusuvuori to publish his book "The Puukko, Finnish Knives From Antiquity to Today" in English. Want to bet he is selling far more books in the US and the rest of the world than he could in Finland? As for Chinese, been there several times. They were all trying to learn English. Of course, their new dictator may want to change that. Publishing in Spanish might make sense but how much of the world speaks French, German, Norwegian, Finnish etc? I have family in Norway. They learn English because when they travel they know there will be no Norwegian speakers where they are going.

Scandinavia is not the best example, because there are not numerous AND have nearly as many official languages... 2 for Finland, 4 in Norway! So why not in English.
There's about as many people speaking officially French in the world, (some ex-colonies like Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, where a huge percentage speak French and a few other like Guinea or Lebanon are not taken in account) circa 260 millions, as there are officialy English speakin' people in the USA...

Montesquieu in the Lettres Persanes (Persian Letters) puts this in the mouth of a Parisian bourgeois seeing for the first time a Persian diplomat :
"Comment peut on être Persan?" How can you be a Persian?

There's at least one of your fellow citizen that does not share your advice, Jonathan Littell...

Happy Friday guys and gals! I need to source a French folder so I can continue with this thread
:)
And thanks Charlie to help get the thread back on track, books and such might deserve a thread of their own, that would be a good one for someone to start or if there’s one already to bring it up to the top again
