Well, I like brass bolsters (just picked up a Buck 110 with ebony scales and brass bolsters). I think it looks good.

Mine is from the "low rent" side of France.... all this "lag-we-olee" stuff is too highbrow for my bank account....

.....but, those Forge de Laguiole knives are gorgeous.

I'd say cedar (thuja #thuya) burl. Briar is way darker.

Ahahah not at all Jolipapa, this horn comes from a water buffalo . it seems that today the Aubrac cows have too short horn to use the point.

It dates end of 80s made by what was not yet the Forges de Laguiole. Not sure of that but I guess components came from Thiers then...

Sorry! You're right, they don't use the tip, it looks more like grey horn.

Oh sure! A gift from my family, orientated by my son's then girlfriend whose mother was from Capdenac in Aveyron!

Also because she shows why no tang does not necessarily mean blunt blade.
