Traditional French Fry day

After listening to the podcast, I just had to order a knife - actually 2 knives ; one for a friend!!
Lemon Tree, very pretty!!Lemon 1.jpgLemon 2.jpgLemon 3.jpg
Its a smaller knife, as you can see from the standard business card!! But very nicely made - strong pull for its size, which I like!! My pics have washed out the yellow cast in the Lemon wood handles, which are quite attractive!!
Thanks Stephane!! (@ Knives-of-France Knives-of-France )

Very nice selection. Owning a knife in lemon wood,I can attest to it's wonderful coloring.
Your friend is very fortunate.

Wow! I had my eye on that one too Charlie. It was very tempting, but I had no idea my own knife would be finished so quickly. I couldn't tell from the thread, but is that dorgalese a spring knife or a friction folder?

It's a friction folder, Christian! Nicely regulated - tightens into place when you open it!!!

Thanks, Rufus!!

It's really a great pleasure to see when a knife passes from the hand of a connoisseur to that of another connoisseur; It's like sharing a great wine. :)🍷

Glad you like it

Simple, but surprisingly effective with a good long blade.

I’m late. My contribution is this Le Sabot, I believe it’s the Tonneau model. What I like: horn covers, blade shape, action and heft. What I’m not so crazy about, general fit and finish, it‘s a little rough, spring is a bit recessed, and some of it like the lines in the bolster, I wonder why they bothered, maybe tradition? I’ve been back and forth on it. I sho add that the knife’s roots are tied to farm and field work where I’m sure how pretty it was mattered not at all compared to its actual utility, which I don’t doubt.

I understand what you mean, my synth Ivory Tonneau annoyed me at first. I contacted the dealer in France & he offred a refund but said all of them were finished like that due to agéd machinery.

My principal gripe was the finish on the bolsters, poorly cut lines. But then, I overlooked this flaw and the rest of the knife is very good indeed: no blade play, excellent W&T - but there's cork inside the well to silence the Talk, blade is really useful and the knife feels very good in the hand when using. No gaps or proud spring, now it's been to The Patina Academy it looks like Antique, pas mail hein?

Unfortunately sometime in October I dropped my Perceval Le Francais Vintage on a tile floor and part of a scale broke of.

After contacting Perceval they offered to rescale the knife at their factory. Fortunately with me living in Germany and the factory in France that was esay to handle for me. Shipping took 1 week each way and after 3 weeks I just got the reworked knife back for French Friday.

I must say I‘m impressed with the qu of service Perceval provided. The whole process was very professional and they even offered me two options for the replacement scales (due to the way the knife is set up they had to replace both scales).

I can only recommend Perceval. The knifes are of high quality and the service is exceptional.
