The best form factor ever made for concealed carry imo. I have several of these. I love the steel, but my airweight is far and above my most carried pistol. You forget it's on you.

I used to have an airweight with the laser grip and sold it. Not sure why ! It was fantastic for concealed carry.

The barrel length of the 1911 is 5” and the 1917 is 5.5” which should give slightly more velocity from the 1917 from same ammunition.

To be honest I don’t know. I’ve never compared them. I do know that it will shoot any .45 ammo it is fed. The iron sights are adequate but the red dot on my Kimber is easier on my old eyes.
