My favorite Dollar Brand record.

I remember Clifford.

Guess it's a language of its own and as hard to understand for french as for english speakers?

His language is the breton, a brittonic language like Welsh to which it is close. Not related to the french or to the english by any mean.

To give an idea of how it sounds, here is a gwerz (a lament) you may have heard yet (Black Hawk Down soundtrack). With english subtitles.

Something more perky by the same singer:

Hi Dan.

Superb knives on some fine looking records! The Max Roach Cover is super cool, but the others are great also.
I saw Abdullah Ibrahim (aka Dollar Brand:)) around seven years ago on a tour. In his black kimono like dress, he looked like a zen master.
The whole gig had a certain ease...
Compared to his earlier recordings as Dollar Brand, the later recordings of Abdullah Ibrahim sound to me spiritual in a more meditative view.

Thanks for sharing the sound of the breton.
Interesting to hear it sung in a melancholic way in the first video, and the rhytmic style of Denez Prigent beneath.
Guess I also heard Lisa Gerard of Dead Can Dance on Gortoz A Ran. She has a unique voice and timbre... I need to check out the soundtrack of Black Hawk Down.

I recently posted an LP from a group called the Moody Blues. Here's an LP with the title "Moods" from a gem of an artist:

Here's another "disguised" album; any guesses??

Nice ironwood. I like Moods too. My favorite Neil Diamond album was a compilation album called And the Singer Sings his Song, which had some songs from Moods.
Have no idea about the mystery album, though.

Thanks, Vince. :)
Gotta confess that any Neil Diamond albums I post here belong to my wife. I like lots of his songs, but not enough to have ever bought any of his albums in my youth.
The mystery album is not one I'd expect someone with your musical tastes to be familiar with, but life is full of surprises! ;)

I've only bought a half dozen or so of his albums. But I like him, my wife doesn't. I've never bought a Crosby, Stills, and Nash album. A friend gave me a Neil Young album. I don't care much for it, but my wife does. Between my wife and I we have a lot of variety. All the classical and jazz are mine, most of the country are hers. And any KISS albums are hers! We both like Dylan and the Beatles. And Sinatra.
