Traditional knives and records

I recently posted an LP from a group called the Moody Blues. Here's an LP with the title "Moods" from a gem of an artist:

Here's another "disguised" album; any guesses??

Thanks for posting Neil Diamond, GT! My Dad used to listen to his music when I was a child, and I kept this record from his inheritance.:)
Somehow he lost the BeerScout knife I gifted to him, so I put my old canoe in the picture.

I used to have that LP, and haven't thought about it for years. Thanks for these little quizzes GT!
You're welcome, Dave. :)
What I consider one of my most challenging follows!:D

You're welcome, matfox matfox . :) That canoe looks great on the beach! ;)

I don't remember why I bought this album. The artist was certainly not a megastar, although she did perform at Woodstock. Anyone recognize her?

And I'll just throw this one in for Independence Day Eve:

Bobo's party Melanie?

Bobo's party Melanie?
I'm impressed that you know that, sir!:thumbsup::)
"Bobo's Party" is on this album, and I didn't even realize it was a #1 hit in France!
After reading Melanie's Wikipedia page this evening, I realized that she was apparently a bigger star than I'd previously thought!
Here's the entire album cover:

Art Pepper. Can't remember the album name.
I highly recommend the three albums recorded at the Village Vanguard. Master pieces.

That's right. This album was recorded with the Rhythm Section of Miles Davis at that time, therefore its name. In his book "Straight Life", Art describes the day of the record session from page 191-195, which is kind of funny.
I will check out his Village Vanguard Concert, thanks for the hint!

An other one, easier.

Jacky McLean "One step beyond". With Tony Williams and the vibes, it reminds a little of Dolphy's "Out to lunch" sound. So far, no idea what the other records could be. The saxophone player below is wearing sun glasses like Miles used to sometimes, but that's all I see:cool:;).

Thanks for loading this one up, really great stuff!
Impressive how this quintett is playing together, the rhythms are fantastic.
I also like how Dolphy is showing the different sounds of his clarinet, and his ability to start swinging all of a sudden.
Great flute and saxophone playing too! I will try to get the album on vinyl or at least on cd.:)

You certainly have heard this one yet. He played a flute solo on a music composed by Lalo Schifrin for a famous television serie in the sixties.

Don't know the musician's name, but I am guessing Mission Impossible for the series. I think Schiffrin also was responsible for the Mannix theme.

Ernie Henry. Very influenced by Charlie Parker his style was evolving but he died in 1957 at the age of 31 leaving only 3 records. All very interesting, particularly "Seven standards and a blues". With Winton Kelly, Wilbur Ware and Philly Joe Jones.

Anthony Ortega is the guy who played the flute solo of the music of "Mission: Impossible". The music of the two records which have been compiled in this album doesn't sound like anything else i've ever heard. It's a very beautiful album, curiously Ortega didn't play this way before and hasn't played like that after the recordings.

Hal McKusick. Very interesting. If you like Jimmy Giuffre, Warne Marsh, Lee Konitz it's worth to listen to his records. He directed the band "Cross section saxes" with Bill Evans.
