Traditional knives and records

German music, German knife. All nine symphonies.
Even a bit TOO German considering Karajan and his past... ;)

My focus is on Beethoven, not Karajan. I have other recordings of the symphonies, but this is the only one I have with all nine. :)
Vince, no doubt the musical choice is good. That is just my opinion, I respect your choice. :) I'm no Beethoven specialist (no record in fact, prefer Russian composers), but I really enjoyed Klemperer's public performances.

Oh my gosh, I haven't heard of Homer and Jethro in decades. It's been so long I don't remember anything about them. I just looked them up on YT Music and will play some of their stuff later this morning.
Me either. I inherited several hundred albums. I'm still going through them. I have two turntables sitting here in the living room and neither is hooked up at the moment
I love the art on this. There is lot going on there :p

When I first heard Sonata No 8 the Pathétique, I was hopelessly hooked on the Beethoven piano sonatas. I have several mp3 recordings of individual sonatas, but I need a good CD of all of them.
Wonderful music. Mesmerizing. I believe there are ten CDs in the set.

Thanks. Ten CDs seems about right since there are thirty-two sonatas in all!

By the way, I saw Arthur Rubenstein give a concert in Houston sometime in the mid 1960s when I was in graduate school at Rice. His hands were badly gnarled from arthritis, but he said that the pain would go away when he sat down at the keyboard. Of course, his accuracy was way off, but musically it was thrilling!

That's great! I should learn to play piano to help with my arthritis! Fortunately, one of my sons plays. Listened to him for several hours today.

Houston has a world class opera house. Went with another son to see Wagner's Valkyrie and Mozart's Marriage of Figaro (about a year apart, I think).
