traditional knives in movies

Anybody noticed what knife James Bond use to cut his apple in No Time To Die? We can see it closing it with two hands (classic traditionnal way) and it happened so fast i just realized it once he put it back in his pocket (watched it at cinema).
Let's hope this is a good movie as you'll have to watch it a second time! 😸

I think this is the scene. I’m not so sure that it’s a traditional folder, but it’s hard to say, as you don’t get a very good look at it (even at 0.25x speed).

Yeah... this is the scene, looks like he's disengaging a lock... maybe it's not a traditionnal...but it should be! 007 said: Sometime old ways are the best! 😊

Sophie Marceau said, "I think we ignore the old ways at our peril, don't you?"
Probably my favorite Bond villainess. Though Luciana Paluzzi is right up there.

Are we sure Craig is retiring? He says that after every film.

A while back, I posted about this Opinel that appeared in the first season of the Amazon series Upload.

My wife and I just finished watching the first season of the new Amazon series Upload. In the ninth episode, an Opinel No. 7 with a red handle is exchanged between two characters. You get a good look at the knife (good enough that you can clearly see the "N° 07" on the lock ring), and I thought it was interesting that, although we're shown the mark side of the knife, there's no nail nick on the blade.

Well we just finished watching the second season, and the same knife can be seen several times in the first few episodes. The blade shape appears to be Opinel’s “My First Opinel” knife designed for kids with a rounded tip, which makes sense as that knife is made on their N° 7 pattern, and the N° 7 stamp can clearly be seen on the lock ring in the image from the first season.

I noted in my previous post that I found it odd that the blade didn’t have a nail nick, despite the mark side being shown in the screenshot. In this season, you get a couple closer looks at the open blade, and it’s obvious that it has been replaced with a completely blunt prop blade.

To be fair, this doesn’t really matter, as the knife is not actually used as a knife in the series. It’s a digital icon that provides access to code within a virtual afterlife. (Did I mention it’s kind of a strange show?) 😁

Fair enough! :D Great post, as always, Barrett

I know some of the old Irish Springs commercials have been mentioned here before, because they always seem to feature someone cutting into a bar of soap with a traditional pocket knife. Well, their Super Bowl commercial from this year is no exception. You can see it around the 0:12 mark. Hard to tell much about the knife as there’s no closeup like the old commercials, but it looks like it could be an Opinel or MAM or something like that.

Sorry to go backwards, but I just saw this post.
And then I found this

And found it pretty satisfying.
