traditional knives in movies

I’m not a comics fan, but this “Ms. Marvel” trailer popped up when I was watching something else.

Nice!

I saw an ad for this movie a while back, but after watching the trailer, I don’t think it has anything to do with old knives at all. 🙁😉😁

Spotted a couple more in the 8th episode of the new season of Stranger Things. First, another display board of pocket knives, as well as some fixed blade knives next to it.

And a half-sheathed bayonet in a different part of the same scene.

I saw that Tony Dow died this week. He played Wally Cleaver, Beaver's older brother. Does anyone recall if there were any episodes of Leave It to Beaver that involved pocket knives?

I don’t have a screen shot, but last night I was watching In Harm’s Way. In it John Wayne pulls out a knife to open a can. I couldn’t see it clearly but it was some kind of scout pattern. Patricia Neal made a comment about it, and John Wayne told her that it had a can opener, punch, blade, and skinning blade. He was proud of how useful it was.

The kids have been watching the new episodes of Bluey that came out last week (at least here in the US), and I spotted this dog whittling a dog while sitting on a milk crate outside a rural servo. (Did I get that slang right, meako meako ?)

The knife appears to be a fairly generic cartoon knife, but I’d say it looks traditional enough. Here’s a closer look.

And you can see the handle here when he sets it down.

Haha... That's my favorite one yet. 🤠
My 23 year old son watches Bluey because he misses his dog, also named Bluey. 🤣
I actually bought him a Bingo stuffed animal to keep in his apartment, to remind him of his puppy back in California.

Hey, compared to some of the other kids’ shows and movies to which I’ve been subjected, Bluey is actually pretty good. 😁 There’s probably as much humor written in for the parents as for the kids.

Here’s a bonus “action shot” from that scene, where you can see the little curl of wood coming off the carving. (I also love the huge pile of wood shavings at his feet.) 🤣

Here’s another one I spotted in something the kids were watching. In Rio 2, the main bird-character briefly wields a Swiss Army knife in self-defense. I’m no expert when it comes to SAKs, but I don’t think Victorinox or Wenger ever offered a model with a spork. 😉
