Traditional mug shots

P. i suggest "Flashlight"
About a year ago i began researching these on-line and discovered a whole new world. Current flashlights come in many forms with differing technologies and give a huge amount of light. ("light" coming in many spectrums)
If you have a degree in Electrical Engineering it might help understand some of what is on-line under "Flashlights".
There is a group of people who call themselves "Flashlightoholics" with forums similar to BF. They continually modify their 'lights and have contests (at night). The dealers get better lights, batteries etc. every month, so some of the 'oholics have hundreds of flashlights. The technology is truly improving every day. You can buy components and build your own super suped-up Custom Flashlight (sound like knives ?).
I read for about 2 hours every day for 2 months before giving up, as i still did not really grasp this highly technological but fascinating field.
Suggest to your son that he might appreciate a new high tech flashlight and then start searching.
See you back here in 2-3 months !

Okay, just got off the phone with my son and got his permission to use his mug in this thread. My Dad's response? "No objections here although you might receive a lifetime ban from the site." When I asked him if he really thought I was that ugly, he replied, "Only the old guy in the orange shirt."

This was taken at my parents' house last week when we were back home in Indiana for Thanksgiving. We are the latest three in a string of five generations of guys in our family born in a year ending in 2 (going back to my great grandfather, born in 1882). My son turned 20 in September, my dad 70 in April, and I was 50 in January.

Mr. Humppa while eating good bavarian darksmoked pork with some great bread and pickles (and a 1/2 half litre of beer ;) ) - we call that a "Brotzeit"

As long as we're doing pet mug shots, Here's my favorite girl, Pearl the wonder corgi on the left, and her friend and neighbor Bella on the right. Pearl is a Cardigan corgi, and Bella is a Pembrooke.

Thanks for the kind words, all.

P. i suggest "Flashlight."

Having read the reasons for your recommendation, I shall hope my son does not ask for a "flashlight."

:p

Thanks for the input all the same-- a helpful warning. :)

Oh, and Zippofan, we've survived the Watch Thing a couple times now, with a modest pocket watch a few years ago and a Steampunk-y Fossil the year before The Knife, when he did ask for "a watch." Whew.

Thanks Elliott-I must have missed this thread in the beginning, but have enjoyed placing the names with the faces :D

Nice to put some faces to names. Funny how there are some surprises in this thread, conflicting with the images which grew in my head over time :)

Here are some photos from a vacation in California
I believe it's generally a bit windy in this area... ;)

Lupins! Unfortunately Dennis Moore was nowhere to be seen. Let's see how many of you get this one :D

The only mugshot I could find is from a Busse picture challenge :)

LOL, "Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore Riding through the land Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore Without a merry band He steals from the poor, and gives to the rich ... "

Haven't seen that one for ages :D

I'm here for your Lupins!

Nice shots....

Here is a picture of me taken about 7 years ago standing atop the highest peak in Guatemala. I've forgotten the name of this volcano but the elevation is about 13,000 feet.

I was doing volunteer medical work and while visiting a tiny community which is one of the highest in Guatemala at over 10,000 feet, we were invited to have lunch. This picture shows step #1 of the lunch prep: killing the chicken. This was a most generous jesture from these indigenous people who have almost nothing.

You dodged the bullet on the watch thing ~P, whew! Little did I know how badly I'd get bitten when I went looking for information on a cheap Russian hand winding watch years ago. I've studiously avoided the whole flashlight thing by carrying nothing but Maglites for years. It was close when I went looking for a small powerful light for my wife and picked up a Fenix (in purple, her favorite). I survived by diving head first into traditional knives! :D

Are you sure you survived?
