Traditional mug shots

No amount of cats and guinea pigs can fill a dog-sized hole in your life. ;)

ABSOLUTELY. I love dogs. Truth be told we put down the last of our three dogs last year. Vinnie outlasted Floyd & Sasha by one year, and Vinnie was 15! Tough times there and I know Kadie misses all three. Maybe next year we'll get her one! [emoji106]

We're going through cancer treatment with our Gunther. We just got some good news about his prognosis, and it seems that he could be treated with just surgery and not radiation or chemo. Still quite a bill, so goodbye Merkel 20ga, goodbye knives I thought I'd never sell!

Here's my Boston Moneypit- I mean Terrier.

Colin, Gunther is a BEAUTIFUL lookin boy. I know we treasure our guns and knives but what a WONDERFUL pup ya got there. I know you know just how special he is, those knives and shotgun will come along some day in the future and you'll more than likely replace them and more.

Please let us know how his surgery turns out, I wish you guys the very best. Pat him on the head from Paul in ND and tell him he's a good boy;):thumbup:

Gunther's quite the man! Sorry to hear about His troubles, but it sounds like they work it out for him. For a price, of course. Always that. Yep - we've all got those toys that seem to be I reserve for SHTF situations - like Gunther's. The old adage of pets becoming like your children is absolutely true!

Definitely let us know how it goes, bro! I'll keep the faith on it!! [emoji106][emoji123]

Thanks guys, I'll keep you updated.

He is absolutely our child, too. We don't have any kids, and we brought him home about 3 months after we got married, so he's especially special to us.

Been there Wilted Kilt. Got an old dog, she's 14 now but she's had 9 cancer surgeries. Both rear knees done too. Fortunatly the Vet likes my knives, done some trading. She's over there snoring on the floor as I type. Good luck. Good looking dog.

Thanks, Dave. He's coming up on 8 years old now, this is his first major health scare other than a strange, isolated and unsolved episode when he was 2.

I'm hoping this isn't the start of many problems. His tumor is on the absolute worst place he could get it for surgery, so if another one pops up it shouldn't require a specialist like this one.

Update on Gunther- his surgery went well, no problems with his breathing under anesthesia as some flat faced dogs have. He's got "good nostrils", apparently. No reconstructive surgery needed after the removal of his tumor in order to get everything to work (I told you, he got it in the worst possible place) so the bill is about 25% less than expected. It's still setting us back, but it's money well spent on this guy- he's got the best heart of any living animal I know.

We have to wait for further biopsy results to see if he needs additional treatment, but every step has gone well to this point.

Hey Colin.......
Gunther is a real cute little guy. I'm glad he's has got through things - please..... Keep us posted.

Colin, even with that protective cone on, Gunthar can still work it:D

If that adorable pose doesn't garner additional treats I don't what will.

Poor little kid has been up for couple of hours - trying to get over some kinda flu thing. So I finally got him out of bed so mommy could sleep, brought him out here to the living room put on some Elmo and made him some oatmeal. Needless to say I haven't slept yet lol At least I'm off today! [emoji106]

Strada- I wish I had his energy when I get sick!

Hope he kicks the flu soon, definitely no fun.

LOL don't we ALL wish we had that kinda energy in general [emoji23]

Thx bro! He's got his appetite back, that's for sure, so that's definitely a good sign [emoji106]

How's Gunther coming along?

He's alright, thanks for asking. His stitches are top notch, you can tell the surgeon knew what he was doing (he was the head of surgery at Penn Vet, so I guess he better!)

He's sleeping with his head on my lap now. The tricky thing is keeping him from jumping, and keeping our other dog away from him. Minka is very different from Gunther, she's strong willed, energetic, fearless, dominant, but she's half his age and doesn't really know how to be separated from him.

A picture my wife took from earlier when Minka broke through the barrier:

Great to hear! And I love the camaraderie that develops between dogs in a family.

Great pic!!! [emoji106]
