Traditional of the month: Peanut.

Does anyone have one of the Red, White, & Blue Peanuts they could post? Has the single Star on it? I've wanted one of those for a while just never got around to grabbing one.

A blue Peanut?! Yes, for sure... here it is... :) Nice little knife

Hope everybody had a great weekend, my family had a great weekend full of hiking, and fishing, and a parade. We caught so many we stopped counting after 30, they all went back in the drink except this Crappie, I got hungry and didn't pack a snack.

I dedicate this post to Carl aka Jackknife.

Ah, fresh caught fish over an open fire right from the water. Does it get any better than that?

No, it doesn't.

Carl.

It's funny because I'd decided last month before this thread was even posted to take the "Peanut Challenge" and only carry a Peanut all month. I've done just that with the exception of some campfire stuff a couple of weekends. But the Peanut was there and used just the same as I'd have used my Spyderco or whatever "modern" folder I happen to carry on a given day.
I carried the Peanut before this month but never as my primary. I do look forward to putting a Delica back in my pocket though. Not because the Peanut can't handle my EDC chores, but because I've carried a clipped knife for so long I notice it's been missing. Like walking out of the house without your wallet that goes in the same pocket every day.
But here's my constant companion that's been there with me all by itself, all month long.

And this little guy will continue to ride in my pocket. But after the end of the month I'll rotate him with
a few other Peanuts as well. :)
With all the options, why black? Because my first knife ever was a small black plastic handled 2 bladed folder. And nostalgia made me do it.

Paradiggum - I love the black. Wish it came in CV but it's not a big deal. And my first knife was also a small black plastic handled 2 blader. It was a Camillus made-Buck Lancer. I still have it. Even for a peanut guy like myself, it's a bit too small.

Being honest ... this thread and all of your cool pics of that Chestnut Bone CV Peanut let me order that 'nut about two weeks ago... I´m hoping it´s gonna be here in this week... I´m looking forward getting it, though I already own a 'nut. But that´s not the same. Yellow CV or Chestnut Bone CV (and any damascus, but that´s out of my wallet-range) are the way to go... ;) :D

Kind regards
Andi

I'm pretty spoiled, I live in a fishing community, and my father in law use to do lobstering and clam dig. That crappie was probably the freshest fish I've eaten though, cooked and eaten within 20 minutes of being caught.

Humppa you are right there is something about the chesnut and CV, gives it a old timey feel.

Jacktrades looks like you like your peanut as much as I like mine.

Mine needed some love after the long weekend.

I don't know who made mine or where it is today. It was a toothpick pattern but smaller than the smallest Case toothpick. I have one of those as well but doesn't give the same vibe because it's larger than my memory tells me that original knife was. It wasn't a high quality knife. I'm really digging this peanut.

Peach pit carving, I used the pen blade on the nut, and the awl/punch on my stockman for the mouth.

Mmmm, that looks good! Caught a couple keeper bass over the weekend (12"+ largemouth) but bass season doesn't start in PA again until June 15
:(

These are all Utica Kutmasters, the shiny ones from the factory store (which I miss terribly), and the black one from the flea market.

Does the little liner-lock qualify, or does a peanut have to have two blades?

That's freakin' cool!

Thanks Seelow I appreciate it, this was my first attempt at a peach pit face, I have carved plenty in wood but never tried doing with the peach pit, it didn't take long either maybe 20 min. The mouse took the longest, the baskets the first attempts useing peach pits. I'm like use the pits each has a different grain structure and as you remove material they really come to life I'm looking forward to doing another face, plus you get to eat a yummy peach and pit travels well.

Zippofan glade to hear you caught a keeper, all the largemouth I've been catching have been young and 8-10", the yellow perch and crappies have been good. The only decent largemouth I hooked was a five pounder that put up a good fight I kept him out of a down tree, I bent down to pick him up and he came off the hook I was a inch away from picking him up by the jaw, I was bummed.

Voodoosix I like the long pull and swedge on that blue nut is it a select ?

This is the peanut that I received as a gift from popedandy.
Thank you so much! I am enjoying carrying the 'nut everyday!

I'm looking forward to more fishing, my family takes me up the lake for a Father's Day present and leaves me be while I fish, or I go to the little range there for some plinking with my sons, it's the best!

Starting last year we've been fishing with 'wacky' rigs (Senko rubber worms), it's like the bass go wild. I had my Troop up one weekend and the smallest fish we caught was 12", there were plenty of 15"+ largemouths, too many to fit on a stringer, plus a few crappie too. We had a heckuva fish fry for the Scouts!
I thought I had a photo of the stringer, but this is my boys and me from last year fishing off the dock:

I have a pic of one of the bass from this past weekend on my cell, now if I could just get it off there. If they were in season those two would have been filleted (with my Case toothpick) and cooked for lunch.

<thread hijack>

Ah, wait, there is knife content, note my shirt hiked up on the right over my knife pouch :D

Cheers,
Griff
