Traditional Of The Month: Sodbuster

I did however get a new fixed blade from custom maker John Kiedaisch over at JK knives in the custom section. I sent him my GEC Bullnose so her could pattern the handle onto one of his knives called the Toby's knife. I also had him put brass liners, pin and lanyard hole on there to give it a traditional look. John did great and it turned out fantastic! Here is a pick of it with the GEC.

loved and lost Case soddies in the past and had planned to replace but i'm now holding out for a GEC...

Falling behind as usual:rolleyes: Love the micarta Case:thumbup" Farmkid, I have a few soddies that blood knives now, welcome to my world:D

Here are the ones I've carried since my last post.

Queen Country Cousin in D2
i-GQpQ24k-L.jpg

Heinrich Schmitz Hippekniep in Carbon steel and rosewood handles, made in Germany. Love this little knife, very similar to the Windmill knives!

A.G.Russell Rancherin black rucarta and 8cr13mov steel. This is made in China but it's fit and finish is second to no other sodbuster I own. In fact, the fit and finish puts to shame some of the US made sodbusters I own, this is a top notch knife.

Today I'm carrying an own known Solingen made sodbuster. Carbon steel with great walk and talk and its quite a few years old.All there is on this knife is a stamp that states solingen.

Love this thread! I'll be back later with more carried knives and always look forward to everyone's picks!

Sitflyer, did you reprofile that Case? Looks good! You should get one of the Queens, very nice but will have to do some edge work.

Yup! And I'm quite familiar with Queens edges...I actually kind of like putting my own edge on 'em :)

Great job sitflyer, looks very good.

Mine has been gettin a lot of use, this month has made me use it and I have learned to love it. The soddie might not be my favorite pattern but it certainly will see some use in the future. Gonna hang it next to my work bench in the garage, will be a great utility/yard knife for me.

Thanks guys, I do a lot of point work with my knives, piercing cuts, and workbench tracing type cuts, so a point a little closer to the centerline works better for me.
Rockgolfer, you can't go wrong with those uses in mind, these things eat it up for breakfast when you put 'em to work:)

I like what you did there sitflyer

Been super busy this past week or so I haven't been able to post but here are some of the ones I've carried this past week. ROland, great collection:thumbup:

Moore Maker marked 2007 in carbon steel. Not sure who made this one but it's pretty close to all the Queens I have. Bear and Sons makes the Delrin sodbusters for Moore Maker now but I dont think this is their work, could be wrong.

I'll throw this one in for the last day of Sodbuster month. I'm carrying it today.

What is the pattern for September ? Who decides ? I think this is a superb idea. Gets me going through lots of my knives to find examples to post and that leads to seeing other knives that i had forgotten about. Lotsa Fun.
Ever do "Bartender Jacks" ? (a Remington term) I have some doozies.
