Traditional Of The Month: Sodbuster

I need to keep my eye out for one of the Bulldog sodbusters. You will need to share more pictures when you receive it!

I think your avatar would make a great etch on the side of the blade! I love the chief Pit Bull.

i will definitely get some pics up, you know that lol

and the dog in my avatar is "Luceneys(sp?) Peter" aka the first Petey dog used in the "Our Gang/Little Rascals" series.

:foot: So that's why the dog looked familiar.

 Congratulations on the new Sodbuster on the last day of the month! It is a fitting send-off.

A little rainy & humid here today, so I'm toting around my stainless steel Case Sodbuster.... Pardon the recycled picture:

O.K, O.K. I'm a little late. And the knife is an unusual sodbuster.
But I have carried and used it all of August, in fact since May 24th when i started my kitchen renovation. A new definition for Kitchen knife!!:D I just couldn't see using my T.Bose WT for this rough stuff; not that it couldn't do it mind you!!
The Scagel was pretty much a safe queen when I started (pun intended) - in fact it was made by Queen in 2005! I've owned it since.
1095 and pretty cool stag, and a tribute to a legendary knife maker, it was more than up to the task, ravaging endless (over 100) cardboard boxes from assemble-it-yourself cabinets. Also multiple demolition tasks. It even cut drywall!
And delicate tasks, like whittling plugs for drilled holes in my 100 year old fir floors. Not to mention assisting in my lunches, peeling fruit, and slicing stuff - it did it all!
It has a nice patina now, and the stag has mellowed some, but it would I dare say, continue on for another lifetime or two. Here are before and after pics - hard to tell the difference after all that;

your forgiven thats too lovely not to be on this thread :D

besides if it was up to me it would be sodbuster year!

Thanks for the compliment, Corso!
I forgot to mention that the knife needed little sharpening during that three months of being a utility knife. I stropped it a couple of times, and swiped it with my steel 3-4 different times when the cardboard "caught up" on it.
I am about to now put a more acute edge on it for less strenuous work!

If I had a nickel for every time I've kicked myself, for not buying one of those.......well I'd have a lot of nickels.;)

Nice knife and great images Charlie.

This picture made my morning.....thank you.
I have been carrying a Case Sodbusters Jr in stainless for over a month, and I am starting to love it. I don't think it will take the place as my favorite, but it's close.

If there was a sheepsfoot sodbuster style knife, cheap, with delrin handles, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Anyone know of anything like that?

Thank you ever so very much, GEC.

Originally this thread was for the month of August 2012. Having a thread devoted to a particular design for a month was a thing the Traditional Forum did for a few months. In August 2012, the targeted design was a sodbuster.

Thanks, I was cornfuzed. I'd just read the first few pages, then Planterz' post, so I assumed it was current. My bad

It's okay with me. This thread shows how awesome sod busters are! It's been traditional of the month for 6 months!
